Dakota Mayi Johnson (born in Taylor, Texas on October 4, 1989) is an American actress. She is the daughter of Don Johnson and Melanie Griffith and the granddaughter of Tippi Hedren.

She grew up in San Francisco and attended The Hamlin School during the fourth grade, only for that year. Otherwise, Dakota attended the St. James School for her elementary education. She attended Santa Catalina high school in Monterey, only for her freshman year in high school. She then attended the New Roads School, where she will graduate in 2008. She is 5'9".

In 1999 she featured in the movie Crazy in Alabama alongside her real-life mother Melanie Griffifth.

She was voted Miss Golden Globe, 2006, and actually served as the first second-generation Miss Golden Globe in the Globes' history.[1][2]

Dakota is the third oldest of 6 siblings Jesse Johnson (25), Alexander Bauer (22), Stella Banderas (11), Atherton Johnson (8), Jasper Johnson (5), and Deacon Johnson (1).[3]Her mother and father divorced in 1995 and her mother got remarried, to actor Antonio Banderas in 1996.

She is good friends with Riley Keough, daughter of Lisa Marie Presley.

In December, 2007 it was announced that 18 year old Dakota had completed a 30-day stint at Visions Teen Treatment Centre in Malibu after it was discovered she had a drug and alcohol problem.[4]
