Dakota (1968 song)

"Dakota" is a song written by Richard M. Sherman & Robert B. Sherman, also known as the "Sherman Brothers". The song is from the Walt Disney musical film: The One and Only, Genuine, Original Family Band which premiered in 1968.

• The song was considered briefly as a candidate for "state song" for South Dakota. South Dakota does not currently have a state song.
• The song is similar in style to the title song of the 1943 musical, Oklahoma! by Rodgers and Hammerstein.
