Daisy Kutter: The Last Train is a four-part black-and-white comic book series written and illustrated by Kazu Kibuishi in 2004 and published by Viper Comics.

The story is a Science fiction Western, a combination of Steampunk and Western.

[edit] Plot

Daisy Kutter, a store-keeper who used to be a bandit, lives in a Steampunk version of the American Old West where robots coincide with steam locomotives. Her friend and ex-partner in crime, Tom, now works as sheriff in the town.

Daisy loses at poker to a mogul named Mr. Winters who later hires her to rob a train to "test the integrity of the guard"[1], a supposedly perfect robot defense. Mr. Winters supposedly wants to disprove this foolproof claim. In actuality, he is setting Daisy up for a fall.

Daisy and Tom go on the train to "rob" it, but a robot attacks them after they've completed the mission. Mr. Winters' plan was to prove his new robot by having it kill the famous Daisy Kutter. With the help of Tom, and some big guns, Daisy defeats the robot. Mr. Winters and Daisy also have a Western-style shoot out, with a giant robot involved.

Although Daisy and Tom survive, Tom is injured seriously and stuck in a wheelchair at the end of the book. Daisy takes over as sheriff, but she still enjoys a game of poker, as seen in chapter four's last scene.
