The Dairylea Cooperative (originally called The Dairymen's League) started in 1907, when a group of dairy farmers in Orange County, New York, united to increase their bargaining power. By the 1920s, the Cooperative's membership had grown to more than 100,000 farms. While initially based in New York City, the organization is currently based in Syracuse, New York.

While it has changed and adapted over the years, Dairylea helps manage the sale and distribution of the raw milk, which includes more than 9,500 farms producing 16.0 billion pounds of milk annually. Dairylea is a part of the National Milk Producers Federation.
