On Talk:Sino-Indian War, an IP user (check the history) has been going on about India's Rape of Goa and keeps posting links to Goan seperatist websites. Hi, I always see and silently admire your nice little and important copyedits on Language Movement. Thanks for your help and support and I hope you would carry on. [edit] A notorious "Editor gang" at work. Plz. see Telugu script

Hi there! I thought it wise, to inform you about some unfortunate developments at Telugu script over the past few days. It all started when I requested User:Winhunter for unprotection of the article Telugu script so as to remove parts, objectionable to either sides of the "Edit War."

In the light of all this several disturbing incidents, some of whose links I'm presenting for convenience sake, also took place.

The links are:

1) The page for reports, for checking User:Sarvagnya

2) Possible Sock puppetry incident as reported by me

3) 3RR violation report against me.

Incidentally, several hours before this 3RR report against me, I had requested at least 2 admins, including User:Winhunter to fully protect Telugu script, from any further unfortunate developments. Plz. see my request for full protection. Telugu script is now fully protected thanks to the efforts of User:Evilclown93.

Important Plz. read At this juncture, I'd like to bring to your notice a notorious "Editor gang" which has been plaguing painstakingly-done projects on Telugu, Marathi, Tamil, Andhra Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu and many other related articles. I request those at the helm of affairs including sys-ops/bureaucrats to fully investigate, and take necessary action against this gang's members. The names could be provided by me upon request, for obvious reasons. Thanking You, AltruismTo talk 05:00, 5 July 2007 (UTC)

Hi DaGizza. I noticed your deletion of the article "Cartomedia". I'd be interested in figuring out how to make such articles conform with regard to style/content/ etc. There are hosts of similar articles describing small companies in my field of work. Best regards. Matt

Thanks for the quick explanation. I'll look closely at the article you cited and figure out whether there is anything substantive I can contribute that does not come across as advertising. After looking at the history of a similar pages (small cartography company pages) it appears that some of the pages have been rewritten to conform better to policies. I'll look at some of these pages as a guide and try and do something similar within the appropriate guidelines. Thanks again. - Matt

[edit] Why the black colour?

GizzaDiscuss © 02:55, 9 July 2007 (UTC)

"Black is believed to be a color of silence and concealing. Yet, the color sometimes "talks" even more eloquently than any other tone. We obtain black color when we mix various colors. Similarly, when our mind has various, complex feelings, perhaps our mind becomes like a melting pot, mixing diverse items, and then our feelings become darker and darker until they all become pure black color."[1]

[edit] Seeking opinion from regular editors on reference pattern

References: Notes and citations section; change in reference and notes temporarily ceased; WP:FOOT says I am not doing wrong; Separate Notes and Citation sections

Opinion is sought from regular editors of the article Hinduism regarding the splitting of Notes and references section. This is a short gist of the discussions going on in the above mentioned talk links: Having a separate "Notes" (for explanatory remarks) and "Citations" (for direct citations), although permitted, is relatively rare in Wikipedia, and also in academic journals. The main rationale behind doing this is to distinguish a series of explanatory remarks from the series of citations (please see Rabindranath Tagore, Demosthenes for examples).

This sandbox gives a glimpse of how the article would look if we split the sections (the sandbox is under work, so may not be perfect). This link shows how the article looks with combined section. This may give an idea how it looked when I started working on references. I converted many references to Harvard format, apart from splitting the sections.

Opinion for regular editors are sought regarding the application of splitting of two section for this article. Please do so in Talk:Hinduism in the section Talk:Hinduism#Seeking_opinion_from_regular_editors_on_reference_pattern. Regards.--Dwaipayan (talk) 04:55, 22 July 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Request for opinion

A valued Hinduism editor appears ready to leave Wikipedia due to a content dispute on Sritattvanidhi. Would you please examine the history of the dispute, which deals with removal of some meditation verses, and comment on the talk page regarding what may be the best approach for this? I have been following a self-imposed one-revert rule and thus am unwilling to directly act on the article at this point. There are not enough other editors watching the article thus independent opinion is needed. Buddhipriya 22:54, 31 July 2007 (UTC)

Happy Independence Day !!!
Dear DaGizza/Archive,
India is celebrating 60 years of Independence, a joyous day for all Indians to celebrate. Lets make a resolution to make India beautiful and fight against terrorism and anti-social corruptions. Follow the steps of Mahatama Gandhi. On wikipedia do the following on this occassion:

Being a proud Indian I take this as an occasion to wish you and your family the best in the days to come on Wikipedia and in real life. Happy Independence Day 2007!!! and Happy Wikipediaing Sare Jahan se achha ye Hindustan Hamara -- Amartyabag TALK2ME 05:40, 15 August 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Spam cleanup

I have done what I can to remove spam on the following articles, but I expect conflict over this matter. I feel that it is time to be more assertive about changing the over-reliance of Hinduism articles on non-authoritative web sources. We also must stop using Wikipedia as an advertising service for religious groups. If you agree, do you have any suggestions for how to build WP:CON for a projectwide Spam cleanup? I generally try to follow a voluntary one-revert rule, which puts me at a disadvantage in edit wars as I often surrender at the first shot. However I am beginning to think that for some cases, such as spam cleanups or dealing with promotion of religious groups, a more assertive approach may be appropriate. See:

[edit] Ayyavazai

Hai Da Gizza,

IMO Ayyaazhi is not a sub-sect; But a Sect. See the complexity of Akilattirattu which give space to what ever exists in the mainstream Hinduism. [edit] Branches of Brahmins

The main article is Brahmin, which should contain a section on Divisions of Brahmins, in which brief outline of Brahmins ought to be presented, together with links to Panch-Gauda, Panch-Dravida and various sub-branches. This article Brahmin needs a thorough revision, but I am have been held at the lead, first by DAB who later relinquinshed, and then by Buddhipriya who will not allow me to contribute anything which is beyond what Buddhipriya knows, and is, therefore, charging me of WP:OR and false citation. Therefore, it will take a long time, perhaps years or never, before these topics can be presented in a proper way. Indian astronomy is not a branch of modern science which is same in all countries, but a part of history of science and a part of Jyotisha too. I started with Surya Siddhanta before registering as a user, and all my contribution was reverted by DAB because I had planned to write the main article in first phase, then trim and wikify it, together with sourcing, in the next phase(I was new to Wiki). But DAB misunderstood me and levelled charges of WP:OR because the article was not properly sourced. DAB can be persuaded because he is a knowledgeable person. But all my contributions to Indian astronomy were reverted by Bharatveer who asked me(through email) to contribute to modern science instead of wasting my time on ancient themes ! Then, I made a third attempt to start a new article Hindu Time Cycles, which forms the introductory sections of all traditional texts on Indian astronomy. But it has been now mixed with units of measurements where I will not be able to describe Indian astronomy. DAB once wrote in Talk:Indian astronomy that this article is not needed and should be merged with Jyotisha (just because he wanted to prevent me from contributing anything anywhere), but later he deleted that talk fortunately. I am an expert of Indian astronomy, but I am being prevented everywhere to contribute anything to the fields of my expertise. I had planned to write extensively on different aspects of Indian astronomy, including new articles such as on Varah Mihir and a lot of other important personalities and ancient theories. But I have shifted to history of Brahmins, Kalibangan ,etc. -Vinay_Jha 12:19, 27 August 2007 (UTC)
