Hindu Article
I'll admit that I don't know as much about the subject matter as you, so I won't get into a reversion war. The question seemed harmless and in good faith, though, and it seems like it'd be better to rebuke the charge with words than to simply remove it, or remove it after addressing the concern and removing it only if he'd difficult.
But, as I said, I don't know anything about the subject at hand.
Thanks for your time! Jay42 (talk) 01:46, 4 January 2008 (UTC)

Bad Cat speedy deletion
I reviewed the article and felt a full discussion is needed instead of a speedy deletion. It seems like something notable to me. The article definitely needs cleanup and a lead paragraph. Cheers! Royalbroil 14:38, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
Bangalore
Hi DaGizza, hope you're doing well. If you have the time, I'd like to request you to take a look at Bangalore for me. One user, User:Nikkul, is trying to monopolize textual and image content and wants this to be the acceptable version of the article. Among my many objections to this are the fact that there are 2 of the 3 images in the Economy section are IT-related and I think this is WP:UNDUE (as are many other images in the article). Added to which, one of the images doesn't have anything to do with Bangalore city and is actually related to an unincorporated town called Whitefield. I have talked myself hoarse trying to explain this to the editor in question, having previously presented financial data in support of my claim; the editor has effectively filibustered the article, refusing to review the material and choosing to pass off his opinions as "fact" which led me to lose my cool on multiple occasions.
In addition to this, what disturbs me more is the editor's blanket reverts of other peoples' edits simply because the edits "weren't discussed first" and not because the editor necessarily had any objections to the content of the edit. If possible, I'd like you to take a look at the article and provide your thoughts; I could continue arguing with the editor, but I really don't any interest in doing that. I put a lot of time and effort in getting the article promoted to FA and I don't want to get into a never-ending edit war that would ultimately compromise the quality of the article. Thanks AreJay (talk) 20:30, 22 January 2008 (UTC)

Gender
Are you a guy? No offense, but I always thought you were a woman. Nikkul (talk) 05:13, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- Yeah I am. If you click the link on my user page which goes to my original userpage, I have a userbox which says I'm male. I may restore my original userpage, which has other info about me when I feel like it. Why did you think I was a woman? Was it because my username ended in an "a"? Poverty in India Image
There is a discussion going on regarding whether or not the following image should be a part of the Poverty in India page. Most Poverty in *Country* pages do not have any images, at most 1. User:Otolemur crassicaudatus has brought many images showing extreme poverty in India and has tried to mislead people into thinking this is the way a majority of poor Indians live. There is a vote in which your input would be appreciated. You can find this discussion here
I feel that the the Bodhgaya Beggar image does not represent poverty in India correctly because:
The beggar in Bodhgaya image does not accurately depict poor people in India because they do not look like this. This man is an exception. To say that this man represents all poor people in India is very wrong. A small minority of Indias poor are disabled. Most living under the poverty line work long hours fishing, farming or as construction workers. This picture shows a man whose legs have been broken. Unless a majority of India's or even a fraction of the poor have legs like this, the image is irrelevant and undue to the poverty in india page.Poverty and Disability are not connected in any way. There are thousands of super rich people who are disabled. There are 11 country articles on poverty
-
These have NO images: Poverty in Pakistan, Poverty in Africa, Poverty in China, Poverty in Australia, Poverty in Canada, Poverty in Malaysia, Poverty in Switzerland, Social issues in Brazil,These have 1 image Poverty in the United States, Poverty in FranceThe Poverty in India page is the only one with more than 1 image. And the only reason for this is because User:Otolemur crassicaudatus has brought more and more images onto the page.
This user is being uncivil and unyielding. This user has tried to have my user page deleted because it said America is priceless! This image is being used by User:Otolemur crassicaudatus to display his dislike of India and to mislead people into thinking that this is the plight of millions of poor Indians. This user has often added images showing extreme poverty to many India relating articles.[1] Even though this user knows that poverty is present in every country and that extreme poverty is not a fair representation of the Indian economy, this user has previously tried to add an image of children washing their clothes in a mud puddle to the economy section of the India page. This user has added this image to the poverty section of the Economy of India page, when a graph showing poverty would make more sense.WP:Undue says:
We should not attempt to represent a dispute as if a view held by a small minority deserved as much attention as a majority view. Views that are held by a tiny minority should not be represented except in articles devoted to those views. To give undue weight to a significant-minority view, or to include a tiny-minority view, might be misleading as to the shape of the dispute.
This can be applied to this because a very tiny fraction of poor people in India are disabled. Most work very hard trying to make a living for themselves. This image is misleading. Nikkul (talk) 03:06, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
Bodhgaya beggar image
DaGizza, in your user talk page this user has made wild accusations on me. I will request you please read the relevant sections on Talk:Poverty in India to give you an inside in this user and to understand who is incivil. The Bodggaya beggar image is more appropriate than others because:
- You may know, many beggars live a condition like this, many of them have various disabilities.
There is no "typical" definition of poverty, or beggar. There are abled beggar, disabled beggar. The purpose of the article is depicting poverty. The other beggar images which this user want to place deleting the Bodhgaya beggar image are not good quality, one is B&W, and the other depicting a beggar girl in Ladakh. But my objection here is that Ladakh is quite different from rest of the country because of its geographics. Majority Indians live in plain. And this Bodhgaya beggar image is showing poverty at its most extreme level. It is not right to conceal the situation of poor men like this, it is the truth, the reality. This image touches the heart of the reader, which is a real situation. Yes not all beggars are disabled, but is this an argument? On the other hand it also can be said that not all beggars are abled. Our job here is not to understand who is abled, or who is not. But to find a good image which is representative of many.
- This user is repeatating his arguments and has taken a densive position by his ad hominem attack on me. Any one do not agree with him, here I am trying to depict poverty, and he is labelling me as Indophobic. There are other editors who honoured me for my contributions. The only reason given against this image that "since all beggars have not messed up legs, this image is undue". But it is an anti-individualistic argument. So what if not all beggars do not have messed up legs? The fact is that such secenes is a reality and it would not be right to conceal it. Such scenes exists, it is the truth. If it is reality, if such scenes exits, then an article depicting poverty i.e. "the condition of lacking full economic access to fundamental human needs such as food, shelter and safe drinking water", only those images should remain which clearly illustrate this fact.
- This article is not depicting India, depicting poverty in India. So such image is not deriding India, it is illustrating the poverty in India. This image, I think, will be very appropriate. I have told you why I am supporting the includsion of this image. Regards. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 05:45, 30 January 2008 (UTC)
DaGizza, I will also like to tell you that this user is in a smear campaign against me in multiple talk pages. Making wild accusation on me in multiple talk pages. I just want to tell you that there may be other abled beggar, but there are disabled beggars like this. I am sympathetic to the poor. It is not right to conceal it. There are other images in the article depicting abled poor. This image will give a balaned approach covering all the sides. Your right judgement will be appreciated. Thanks and regards. Kannada literature
Hi. Thanks for bringing up the issue of what "earliest available literature" actually means. Normally, we consider texts (either on palm leaves, paper, inner bark, scrolls etc) as literature, and wide spread cultivation of it, which is what the Kavirajamarga satisfies, being a book. So I need to stick to that. Apart from information in such writings, researchers however, go one step further and examine contents of inscriptions (stone and copper plates) to decide when literary developments may have actually started. The Halmidi inscription of 450 CE and Kappe Arabhatta inscription (7th century, on stone) containg poetic forms are two such examples. Researchers see that whether the poetry is on stone or paper, the language needs to have evolved to that stage in grammar, balance etc.Dineshkannambadi (talk) 12:14, 4 February 2008 (UTC)

Bhagwan Swaminarayan
He is a god. Swaminarayanism is the religion. Not only do many Gujaratis but also many British historians agree with this statement. He was a guru but gods can be gurus. Bhagwan Swaminarayan is worshiped by millions of followers. If he is worshiped it means he is a god not a guru. I just wanted to clarify this with you. I noticed that you were reverted. --Juthani1 (talk) 03:01, 14 March 2008 (UTC)
I moved my comment to the Bhagwan Swaminarayan Talk page. I am sorry if I made it personal but I did not mean to be harsh. I did not try to make it personal but I guess it turned out to be that way. Hi Gizza, Can you keep an eye on this article since there seems to be a very lame edit-war developing regarding the inclusion of the Thelema section, which some editors find "avedic", and sacrilegious. See discussion here and here. Cheers. Abecedare (talk) 16:04, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

"Bangalore "vs "Bengaluru", again
The article on Bangalore has yet again been moved to "Bengaluru". That move was done hastily and in disregard of the long-running controversy about it and past lack of consensus for it. (It has also been made irreversible by ordinary editors.)
If your opinion is still that the article belongs at "Bangalore", please say so on the article's talkpage. -- Lonewolf BC (talk) 17:00, 3 April 2008 (UTC)

Please help with conflict with wikidas
-
-
- Dear DaGizza, Can you PLEASE help with the conflict between wikidas and myself. We have severe differences in religion. He wants to write pages with an ISKCON slant and I am trying to write them with a scripturally back,non-bias hindu slant. Unfortunately, for the last two to three months, we both have been butting-heads with one another over religious differences. What can we do to resolve this situation. If you cant help in any way, please, can you put me in touch with some one who can. I feel that it will just escalade out proportion on to editing the pages. Please, I feel this serious and will inhibit the both of us editing. He feels that he can back his claims from shrmiti books like the Sriman Bhagavata purana(which the iskcon translation is written with the slant to their group), literature specific to his group;like the caitanya caramrita, gopala upanishad and etc. and other spurious, secondary hand references, all his qoutes are severely ISKCON slanted. I feel that I can back my claims by Shruti; the four vedas, the main upanishads and etc., also by the established Hindu tradition, which ISKCON/Gaudiyas do not follow. Most of the hindu editors have agreed and back my claims with me, and have contested his attempts to give pages an overly ISKCON slant...and he keeps on doing it. I recall the blame of sock puppetry that I put forward towards him, but, He is the only person that has been sending me messages with that style of writing and the only person that I have had a problem with. The message that was sent was written AFTER he did some editing on the Krishna page and others. Please help.Govinda Ramanuja dasa USA (talk) 18:42, 14 April 2008 (UTC)

Amazon.com as RS
Hi, since you are member of WikiprojectBooks, I am asking you that may I use some comments of reviewers published in amazon.com for the article Out of Gas: The End of the Age of Oil. For example the comments of Paul Raeburn, Rick Smalley and San Francisco Chronicle. The reviews were published elsewhere, Amazon gathered them in one place, my only hesitation here I have to cite the amazon website as reference. But I am confused if Amazon.com can be cited as RS or not. Otolemur crassicaudatus (talk) 11:37, 23 April 2008 (UTC)

Sanskrit words and phrases category.
Greetings - I am a relatively new Wikipedian and a Sanskrit student, and discovered that the vast majority of Sanskrit words and phrases had not been categorized. Therefore, I chose to take on the project of doing this. Unfortunately a few days ago, another editor decided to revert some of my additions to this category, and a dialogue with this person has proved to be fruitless.
I am in need of assistance and am hoping you may be able to help in this situation. My talk page has the initial communication, and I responded on his talk page. I wish to avoid an edit war, and yet there are clearly words that deserve to be added to this category that this person will not accept. The current revert list appears in this person's contribution section. Thank you for any assistance you are able to provide.--Cminard (talk) 21:38, 18 May 2008 (UTC)
