DAG is a television sitcom that aired from November 2000 to May 2001. It was named after its star, David Alan Grier, who played United States Secret Service agent Jerome Daggett. Daggett's name, in turn, is a back-formation. The show also starred Delta Burke as the First Lady of the United States of America, who treated him like a servant instead of her body guard.
DAG was canceled after its first season, airing 17 episodes on NBC.
[edit] Trivia
- The President's codename was "Sledge Hammer." The President was played by David Rasche, who starred in Sledge Hammer!, a 1980s ABC comedy series that was a parody of NBC's Hunter (which itself was a television version of Dirty Harry).
- The character of Camilla Whitman, the President's daughter (as played by Lea Moreno Young), is a combination of elements of two characters from the original series pilot, the booksmart Camilla (originally played by Sarah Hagan) and a second daughter, the rebellious Lenore (played by Joanna Garcia). When the pilot was refilmed, Lenore was eliminated and some of her character traits were merged into Camilla (who was recast, with Young replacing Hagan).
