Daewi

Daewi is a military rank in both South Korean and North Korean militaries. In the South Korean military, it corresponds to U.S. Army and Air Force captain and U.S. Navy lieutenant. In the North Korean military, it corresponds to an army or air force senior captain, a rank between U.S. captain and major. A daewi in the North Korean Navy would correspond, equivalently, to a senior lieutenant, a rank between U.S. Navy lieutenant and lieutenant commander.
