[edit] Copyright of images
Hi, please don't upload images and place a wrong copyright tag on them. An example was Image:Concordmllsfood.jpg which you tagged as {{cc-by-sa}} but is obviously not released under this license accoriding to the source site [1]. This image, and some other images you uploaded, have been deleted as copyright violations. Garion96 (talk) 22:39, 5 May 2007 (UTC)
- Also, please don't post full lyrics of songs to song articles. These are obviously copyrighted. Garion96 (talk) 12:23, 7 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image copyright problem with Image:Compton'sEazy.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Compton'sEazy.jpg. However, it currently is missing information on its copyright status. Wikipedia takes copyright very seriously. It may be deleted soon, unless we can determine the license and the source of the image. If you know this information, then you can add a copyright tag to the image description page.
If you have any questions, please feel free to ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thanks again for your cooperation. Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:17, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Compton'sEazy.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Compton'sEazy.jpg. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on those pages too. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Mel Etitis (Talk) 22:17, 12 May 2007 (UTC)
- You've removed the template without adding a rationale; you've also added a clearly inaccurate license, and a copyright date with no evident source or justification. The fair-use template that you've added is also deprecated (see the template wording for details). These problems need to be fixed if the image isn't to be deleted.
- Note that if you continue to up-load images with inaccurate or missing copyright/fair-use/source details you may be blocked from editing for disruption. --Mel Etitis (Talk) 09:22, 13 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Orphaned non-free image (Image:SOCOMPTONVIDEO.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:SOCOMPTONVIDEO.jpg. The image description page currently specifies that the image is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, the image is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the image was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that images for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that any non-free images not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BetacommandBot 15:54, 14 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Image:ChurchofDoss.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:ChurchofDoss.jpg. I notice the 'image' page specifies that the image is being used under fair use, but its use in Wikipedia articles fails our first fair use criterion in that it illustrates a subject for which a freely licensed image could reasonably be found or created that provides substantially the same information. If you believe this image is not replaceable, please:
- Go to the image description page and edit it to add
{{Replaceable fair use disputed}}
, without deleting the original Replaceable fair use template. - On the image discussion page, write the reason why this image is not replaceable at all.
Alternatively, you can also choose to replace the fair use image by finding a freely licensed image of its subject, requesting that the copyright holder release this (or a similar) image under a free license, or by taking a picture of it yourself.
If you have uploaded other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified how these images fully satisfy our fair use criteria. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on this link. Note that any fair use images which are replaceable by free-licensed alternatives will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Sherool (talk) 23:15, 20 May 2007 (UTC)

Thanks for uploading Image:DGYOLA.jpg. The image description page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in Wikipedia articles constitutes fair use.

[edit] June 2007
Please do not post copyrighted material to Wikipedia without permission from the copyright holder, as you did to United Somali Congress. For legal reasons, we cannot accept copyrighted text or images borrowed from other web sites or printed material; such additions will be deleted. Wikipedia takes copyright violations very seriously, and persistent violators will be blocked from editing. You've already been notified about this numerous times so please consider this a warning. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 13:38, 14 June 2007 (UTC)
- P.S. Also note that the inclusion of Image:TheRUF.jpg on your user page does not fall under fair use and should be removed. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 13:38, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

- I had already warned you and then you did it again with Image:DGYOLA.jpg. -- Gyrofrog (talk) 19:17, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

- Something to keep in mind (after your block expires) is that a discography gallery, like the one in D.G. Yola, is also a copyright violation. A CD cover (or single cover etc.) should only be used in an article about that CD. Any other usage is not fair use. Please take the time to review Wikipedia's policies regarding copyrights and fair use. You should also review what public domain actually means. Thanks again, -- Gyrofrog (talk) 19:27, 14 June 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:204507.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:204507.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content carefully, then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies for fair use. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If it is determined that the image does not qualify under fair use, it will be deleted within a couple of days according to our criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the media copyright questions page. Thank you.BetacommandBot 23:40, 29 October 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Dylan&Eric.jpg
Thanks for uploading or contributing to Image:Dylan&Eric.jpg. [edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Ain't Gon Let Up.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Ain't Gon Let Up.jpg. You've indicated that the image meets Wikipedia's criteria for non-free content, but there is no explanation of why it meets those criteria. Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. If you have any questions, please post them at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions.
Thank you for your cooperation. NOTE: once you correct this, please remove the tag from the image's page. STBotI (talk) 23:23, 19 May 2008 (UTC)
