Dabboo Ratnani is a leading Indian model photographer,[1] mostly known for his annual calendar which has become a highly notable showbiz event in India since its first publication in 1999.[2][3] The calendar is compared to the Kingfisher Calendar[4] as a pioneer of the genre of sensational calendars.[5] He was the cover photographer for the first issue of the Indian edition of Better Homes and Gardens magazine.[6] In 2006, he was a jury in the Miss India contest.[7]

Born in December 24, practiced his skill as youngman in Mumbai training together with Sumeet Chopra.[8] Since 2005 he is into digital photography using an Hasselblad H1 with the Leaf Valeo 22 mega pixel digital back.

Ratnani's best known work is his annual calendar.[8] He has helped create a trend of collectible "girly" calendars in India, after the fashion of the Pirelli Calendar. He is one of a number of photographers with trademark calendars widely covered in the media, including Atul Kasbekar, Sudhir Ramchandran, Jatin Kampani and Vikram Bawa.[11] Over the years top Bollywood stars has appeared on his calendar. Every year the launch of the calendar becomes a major event featuring top celebrities, 24 of them for each year.[12]

Ratnani took publicity stills for films like Aatish, Blackmail, Fiza, Hera Pheri, Legend of Bhagat Singh, Aawara Pagal Deewana, Jhankaar Beats, Jism, Jo Bole So Nihaal, Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai, Murder, My Wife’s Murder, My Brother Nikhil, Na Tum Jaano Na Hum, Paap, and Sarfarosh.

He also has worked in advertising for brands like 7 UP (with Malika Sherawat), Airtel (with Shahrukh Khan, Kareena Kapoor, Saurav Ganguly, Amitabh B perfume (with Amitabh Bachchan), Anmol, Bajaj, BPL Mobile, Citizen watches (with Kareena Kapoor), Coca Cola (with Hrithik Roshan and Aamir Khan), Compaq (with Shah Rukh Khan), Dabur (with Amitabh Bachchan, Rani Mukherjee and Riya Sen), Donear Suitings, Hyundai Santro (with Shah Rukh Khan and Preity Zinta), ICICI Bank (with Amitabh Bachchan).[8]
