[edit] Please do not remove
Please do not remove Articles for deletion notices from articles or remove other people's comments in Articles for deletion pages. The notices and comments are needed to establish community consensus about the status of an article, and removing them is considered vandalism. If you oppose the deletion of an article, you may comment at the respective page instead. Thank you. Mangojuicetalk 16:05, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
- Well, you left your comment at the deletion debate, which is the right way to express that. If you don't mind my asking, do you know why so many people are showing up all at once with respect to this article? Was there a forum posting or an email that went out? - Well you aren't helping matters any by trying to flood the debate with votes: that just tends to get people around here upset, and since the debate isn't a vote anyway, it won't work. What you should do is read up on some Wikipedia policies. I'd say start with Wikipedia:Autobiography and Wikipedia:Conflict of interest, which sums up the main problem: maybe an article can exist on this person, but uninvolved people should be the ones to write it. After those, read Wikipedia:Five pillars which will give you an overview of what Wikipedia is all about and help you learn more. If you then come back to the debate and make a cogent argument why the article should not be deleted, that would be better. Also, you can try to improve the article during the debate. Unfortunately, I had to semiprotect it because you kept removing the AfD tags. If you assure me that everyone knows they shouldn't do that, I can remove the protection. Ok, lots of issues here. First, stop adding protection tags to articles: that doesn't do anything, that just puts the little symbol in the corner, but the page isn't actually protected. Protection can only be implemented by an administrator, and only for certain reasons, such as edit warring or vandalism. Second, you do not own Wikipedia articles. This goes for anyone in any circumstance, but doubly so when you have a conflict of interest. For instance, Vestar Capital Partners is an advertisement, and I was tempted to just delete it immediately as spam, but I'm not doing that in the hopes that if you care to learn what Wikipedia is, maybe there can be a neutral article on the subject. But I have to say from your behavior, I'm not very hopeful. Wikipedia is not an advertising service, and you are clearly trying to promote your father and his company here, and it's inappropriate. Third, as to the other partner: first, you should realize I'm not even the one who's asking for deletion, I was just changing one kind of deletion request to another... but second, inclusion doesn't set a precedent on Wikipedia, and the other article may also not be appropriate.
