[edit] The "a" is necessary
In the Holocaust article, I use it to avoid re-directs to the highest column. Hence, without them, if you edit the 200s section for documentaries, you are re-directed to 2000s features after an edit.--Dudeman5685 19:18, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- I have used the method before. I'll add a small note to tell the readers why it is there. OK?--Dudeman5685 20:36, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Look, the reader can easily see the note and understand why a miniscule a had to be added, so that if he or any one else edits the page it would redirect to the right place. Its not that big a deal.--Dudeman5685 20:58, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
- Alright, how about this. To avoid any "typographical ugliness" we write the header in a more convetional for like this ==1950s(doc)==? Will that satisfy you?--Dudeman5685 21:07, 20 January 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Georgetown article
I added Georgetown University's picture. I still believe that the public schools should get photos in there as well WhisperToMe 21:11, 8 February 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wolf's Head article
The general tone of your comments isn't illuminating. Other articles on like student groups appear without citation. Advise what points need citation. SLY111 18:22, 20 February 2007 (UTC)SLY111 dm: pardon my tone on the above message. The WHS article is now improved, and may be the best of its ilk, as a result of your editing. Every writer hates his editor, so forgive my tone, and Id love a review by you of the entry every month. I've research passively for 25 years much about student organizations and their alumni arms at private colleges and private secondary schools, and plan to share through Wikipedia what is interesting and verifiable. SLY111 19:58, 15 April 2007 (UTC)SLY111 Thanks for suggestion. I'll follow it.SLY111 21:45, 16 April 2007 (UTC)SLY111
[edit] photos
Yes, I know how to upload the photo (I have already uploaded a bunch although it still takes me forever, because there is always some bracket missing or a line in the wrong place)...Until now, I have been using the 2.5 license which means all you have to do is credit me. I'm not sure I want the Appelfeld to be used freely - is there a license that gives me more control over it? Also, I see you have a photo gallery on your user page. How do you do that? --Gilabrand 16:49, 30 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Re: "last" Zuckerman novel
"last"? not even Roth can know that
Please do your research before making edits such as you made. The publisher (in the link I already put in the article no less) has said that it will be the last Zuckerman book, I'm guessing because Roth himself has told them. Why can't Roth know that this is the last Zuckerman book he'll be writing? Why is it so hard to conceive that he told his publisher it is so? Seriously, the title is Exit Ghost! As if more evidence is needed, see here, here, and here. Please, next time have some familiarity with the subject before you start making edits. Thanks. Inoculatedcities 14:38, 17 May 2007 (UTC)

[edit] Image:RCB sidewalk.jpg
Actually, the above image is not replaceable, as it was a stunt froma few years ago and the sign has long since been taken down and I have removed the tag as such. That being said, if you wanted to remove the picture from the article, wait a few days, and tag it as an orphan, I wouldn't object. I've never really thought that the picture did much for the article, personally. Cheers. youngamerican (ahoy hoy) 14:25, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Shop Talk
It is indeed non-fiction; I thought that the other cats were sufficient to imply that, but I see now that they don't. I'll restore that and hope for a "category:books about writing" one day. Cheers, Her Pegship (tis herself) 23:54, 1 June 2007 (UTC)

This file may be deleted. |
Thanks for uploading Image:Everyman dj.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale you have provided for using this image under "fair use" may be invalid. Please read carefully the instructions at Wikipedia:Non-free content and then go to the image description page and clarify why you think the image qualifies.

[edit] sports in washington Template
On the Sports in the Washington Area template, shouldn't the Washington "Metropolitan Stastical Area," as defined by the Census Bureau, be used instead of the 35-mile radius. The Metro. Stat. Area makes more sense to use (to me), discludes Baltimore, and includes Frederick. How about it?

[edit] DC Meetup notice
Greetings. There is going to be a Washington DC Wikipedia meetup on next Saturday, July 21st at 5pm in DC. Since you are listed in Category:Wikipedians in the District of Columbia, I thought I'd invite you to come. I'm sorry about the short notice for the meeting. Hopefully we'll do somewhat better in that regard next time. If you can't come but want to make sure that you are informed of future meetings be sure to list yourself under "but let me know about future events", and if you don't want to get any future direct notices (like this one), you can list yourself under "I'm not interested in attending any others either" on the DC meetup page. --Gmaxwell 16:13, 14 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] 1967 Newark and Plainfield riots
They occurred at the same time and were very close geographically to one another; thus, there might be reason to suppose that the Newark and Plainfield riots were part of the same event (although the initial "triggers" were reported to be different, the Newark riots were presumably on the news when Plainfield erupted). Admittedly, not much of a case, but if the articles on both were longer, I wouldn't have put up the mergewiths. — Rickyrab | Talk 00:40, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
- Um, ok, fine, remove the mergewiths, and give the reason for doing so. — Rickyrab | Talk 01:18, 19 July 2007 (UTC)
[edit] I notice that you include this edit summary
to one of your recent edits to Armed Freedom:
- Saying what the statue is, is sufficient. No need to say what it isn't.
Although I don't have an issue with your removing what you did, I do feel that it is sometimes helpful to point out misconceptions about this, or any other work of art (and other things too) that pop up now and again. Debunking urban myths if you will. For example the story about Jeff Davis and the slave cap that is now in the discussion page is repeated on the Architect of the Capitol web page and in Gerts book American Neo-Classic Sculpture: The Marble Resurection, but I believe (opinion) that both of these sources, as unimpeachable as they might seem, are, in fact, in error. I've written to the Architect etc, to plead my case but have not heard back. This might require several emails and then two phone calls, but I will eventually get a reply. My point is . . ..... errrrrrr . . ... sometimes saying what isomething is NOT is the thing to do. (Another opinion) —Preceding unsigned comment added by Carptrash (talk • contribs)

[edit] Thanks
Thanks for fixing my refs. I've studied them and I think I'll know how to do it right next time. I also noticed your excellent copyediting of the Roth article, bravo.--G-Dett (talk) 21:36, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
- Thanks. There's nothing formally wrong with the way you do refs except for some minor typos. I just find using the {{cite}} template makes for a consistent style and minimizes mistakes. --D. Monack | talk 21:40, 26 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Victims of Communism Memorial
Hey. My username used to be "FitzCommunist", I've changed it now. Anyways, I found a source, as requested, that could be used in the article to support the other viewpoint (and that source is right here, two sides to every story, nothing's ever black and white, etc etc etc). The reason I'm specifically asking you is because you said that my idea for a Communist (or Socialist, Marxist, whatever) stance on the memorial would be "a good addition, as long as it's not original research", so frankly, you'd be the ideal user to work with on this, and to help build consensus with other users. As I say I have found a source to provide this critique, and I am confident I can cite others too, but we need everyone's "seal of approval" first...any thoughts? Thanks! [edit] You again bother me, this time on the Schmoke entry.

How might I add an entry on the "Subject"? Four entries exist accounting for gentlemen with exact or very similiar name.
You "undo" killed my editing on Schmoke, which angered me. Apologies, and thanks for your original entry on a gentleman worthy of a seat on the Supreme Court.65.88.88.66 (talk) 16:18, 9 January 2008 (UTC)SLY111

[edit] Thanks
Thanks for splitting the film and book articles on The Human Stain - I always have trouble with the "be bold" policy on wikipedia and am loathe to make larger changes like that without more confirmation that its the right thing to do. [edit] DC secession and homeland
Would you mind looking at Talk:D.C. statehood movement, and helping me to understnad twhat in the world these people are talking about? Assuming good faith here, I think these people are confusing "retrocession" with "secession", and US "statehood" with "nationhood". Frankly, I've never heard of any talk about DC leaving the US, or becoming a "homeland" for African-Americans, but even if it's true, and a viable political movement, it doesn't belong in the article. Thanks, and you can resposnd here or on my talk page - I'm not askign you to get involved in the discussion there unless you want to. - BillCJ (talk) 02:14, 21 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Disputed fair use rationale for Image:Metropolitan-poster.jpg
Thank you for uploading Image:Metropolitan-poster.jpg. However, there is a concern that the rationale provided for using this image under "fair use" may not meet the criteria required by Wikipedia:Non-free content. This can be corrected by going to the image description page and add or clarify the reason why the image qualifies for fair use. Adding and completing one of the templates available from Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to ensure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy. Please be aware that a fair use rationale is not the same as an image copyright tag; descriptions for images used under the fair use policy require both a copyright tag and a fair use rationale.

[edit] Orphaned non-free media (Image:Bad Influence.jpg)
Thanks for uploading Image:Bad Influence.jpg. The media description page currently specifies that it is non-free and may only be used on Wikipedia under a claim of fair use. However, it is currently orphaned, meaning that it is not used in any articles on Wikipedia. If the media was previously in an article, please go to the article and see why it was removed. You may add it back if you think that that will be useful. However, please note that media for which a replacement could be created are not acceptable for use on Wikipedia (see our policy for non-free media).
If you have uploaded other unlicensed media, please check whether they're used in any articles or not. You can find a list of 'image' pages you have edited by clicking on the "my contributions" link (it is located at the very top of any Wikipedia page when you are logged in), and then selecting "Image" from the dropdown box. Note that all non-free media not used in any articles will be deleted after seven days, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. Thank you. BJBot (talk) 12:18, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Hi there, I just wanted to drop a note to say that I'm taking your concerns about the article seriously.
