Just a quick suggestion. Even if you don't want to have any content on your userpage, (you can redirect it to your talk if you want), it might be helpful to simply save it once without actually including anything. This way, it won't show up as a red link. While long-standing users are admonished not to be prejudicial when it comes to new users, it might help to prevent any judgements, intentional or otherwise, about you or your contributions based on your length of time on-wiki.
