Dębniki is an administrative District No. VIII of Kraków, Poland, split in 1990 from District No. XIII, Podgórze. Since March 27, 1991, Kraków has been divided into 18 administrative districts, each with the degree of autonomy within its own municipal government (Rada Dzielnicy). Districts are assigned Roman numerals as per City Hall bylaw of April 19, 1995.
Dębniki is a primarly residential area, with diverse architecture, ranging from 19th century tenaments in the area of Rynek Dębnicki to plattenbau blocks of flats in Podwawelskie and Ruczaj estates and suburban areas of detatched houses in the ouskirts.
The district contains many open spaces, Zakrzówek Nature Park being the most popular of them.
The new complex of university buildings - called the Third Campus of Jagiellonian University is being developed within the district bounduaries.
