The CZ 527 Varmint is an American style bolt action smallbore rifle designed by Česká zbrojovka Uherský Brod based around the CZ 527. It has a reliable Mauser-style action, and is available in three different stylings.

The standard Varmint model is available in three calibers: .17 Remington, .204 Ruger, and .223 Remington. It comes with different kinds of wood stocks depending on the caliber such as American Walnut and Curly Maple. This model is 3.28 kg (7.2 lb).

An adaptation of the Varmint is the Varmint Laminated. This model features a Grey Laminated stock which gives the rifle a very different look. The Laminated rifle is only available in .223 Remington and weighs 3.62 kg (7.97 lb).

The last styling of the Varmint model is the Varmint Kevlar model. The primary difference is the stock and body are made of a Kevlar composite with a rubber end, forming an H-S precision stock. The rifle also has the difference of an aluminum bedding block (compared to the glass bedding of the other stylings). Supported calibers are the .204 Ruger, and .223 Remington. This model weighs in at 3.41 kg (7.5 lb). It also has the fastest rifling twist ratio for the .223 Remington (1:9 instead of 1:12) of the three models. This allows for heavier bullets (up to about 65 grain) to be fired very accurately through the gun, while only receiving minor drawbacks of slight velocity loss and some additional barrel wear. The increased spin on the bullet also compensates somewhat for the .223's tendency to tumble after penetrating through an object. This model has been known to achieve better than one-half MOA (30 SOA) accuracy with the correct ammunition .

The CZ 527 Varmint in .223 has muzzle velocities for standard-load 45-grain (2.9 g) bullets of around 3,500 feet per second (1,100 m/s). The 1:9 barrel twist in the Varmint Kevlar reduces muzzle velocities by about 1.5%. Heavier bullets (60 grains) still shoot at above 3,000 ft/s (910 m/s).

The CZ 527 Varmint was originally designed for American markets, though it has had received world-wide recognition in light rifle and small bore competitions alike.
