What is the city's political history? Was it part of Silesia, or part of the Polish Commonwealth? If the former, what was its German name? If the latter, who got it in the partitions? john k 03:15, 7 Apr 2005 (UTC)

I added a history section. Does it answer your questions? :) Halibutt 12:09, Apr 7, 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Motto

Is the motto really "Częstochowa is a good city" as stated in the infobox?

No, it is not. This is a phrase told by pope John Paul II. Its used to promote city, but it is not an official motto.

[edit] History

"In 1382 the Paulist monastery of Jasna Góra was founded by Władysław Opolczyk (Ladislav of Opole) - the Polish Piast prince of Upper Silesia."

at this time Upper Silesia was part of Czech Kingdom and that branch of the Piast dynasty is called the Silesian Piast. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.204.16.67 (talk) 11:25, 2 April 2008 (UTC)
