Cynegeticon
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cynegeticon (Greek: Κυνηγετικόν = "Hunting" from the ancient Greek verb κυνηγέω/κυνηγώ, a composite of κύων = dog and άγω = to lead or bring; literally to lead or bring dogs), sometimes Cynegetica, is the title given, sometimes in Antiquity, sometimes by modern scholars, to a number of works of ancient Greek and Latin literature on hunting. They are mostly about the breeding, care and use of dogs and horses. The best-known are those by Xenophon, Oppian, Grattian and Nemesianus.
