[edit] Move
I have moved this article back from Cybi of Caenarvon by 'copy & paste' for reasons of speed. Caenarvon, I assume is suposed to be Caernarfon. The first 'r' is missing and the 'v' (never used in Welsh) has not been used in English for some years. Apart from the spelling, Cybi did not come from Caernarfon, as is clear from the article, and is never referred to as 'Cybi of Caernarfon'. Furthermore, the reason given for the move was to comply with the Wikipedia saints naming conversion. The addition of a place qualifier for the only saint of a particular name does not conform to this convention. An argument could be made for moving it to Cybi on convention grounds, or to Saint Cuby on language grounds. If users would like to move the article to one of these, I suggest they begin a discussion here. Walgamanus 09:20, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- I am not clear for your reasons for doing a "speedy move" by copy and paste. By doing so, you have erased the edit history of the page. You could have easily requested a contested move and waited the couple of days for an admin to get to it, and we could have had this discussion there.
- I have no problem with dropping the "of Caenarvon" (and yes, that is the name that I meant). It may not be the usual name, but I don't know that that name is never used, as I used it based on For All the Saints,Catholic Forum, and Irish-Catholic Saints. That said, I have no reason to insist on using the place qualifier.
- The use of the place qualifier was not the primary reason for the move. The move was to remove Saint from the title, as this is official naming convention, and the same request for not using the word "Saint" in the article can be found on Wikiproject Saints. If the place qualifier is objectionable to you, I would suggest moving to Cybi (and judging by the redlink, you should be able to move it there without having to go to requested moves).
- Of course, there is also the issue of recovering the history that was lost in the copy-paste move. I would suggest copy-pasting back to Cybi of Caenarvon, then move to Cybi. This should get the edit history back. -- Pastordavid 16:03, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
- Sorry about losing the history. I realised this was the result after it was too late. I will recover it via the move to Cybi. I still don't understand where Caenarvon is? I can find no trace of it. Walgamanus 21:21, 23 January 2007 (UTC)
I do believe it is all straightened out now. Thanks for sticking with this. Pastordavid 20:08, 25 January 2007 (UTC)
