Late response, but check out "Roll For It." The establishing shot of Cybertron pans off to the right from a long shot of the Milky Way. Additionally, in "Transport to Oblivion," Shockwave called the spacebridge an "intergalactic" transport system, as in from galaxy to galaxy, indicating that Cybertron exists in a different galaxy outside of the Milky Way, and in "The Ultimate Doom," the apex of the space pyramid which brought Cybertron to Earth orbit was in another galaxy.
