The term cutoff has several meanings.
- Cutoff, a range of values to be considered in physics.
- Cutoff (steam engine), the point in the piston stroke at which the inlet valve is closed.
- Cutoff frequency in telecommunications and digital signal processing.
- In fashion, cut-offs can mean either a Crop top shirt that exposes the midriff, or long pants that have been cut at the knee level (usually without a hem) to create shorts.

- Position (poker) - Cutoff is the seat to the right of the dealer or button, second best position.
- Electricity and electronics:
- Cut-off in electronics, for example when in a MOSFET device the gate to source control voltage is less than a threshold value denoted by VT or VTh: then the channel is said to be cut-off, imposing the flow of a very low drain-to-source current.
