Cutler is a town in Washington County, Maine, United States. The population was 623 at the 2000 census.

Blanche Craig (1866-1940), a character actress who appeared in 31 films between 1913 and 1936, was born in Cutler. Her first film, Traffic in Souls (1913) was among the earliest flim treatments of prostitution, and a huge box-office success. She also appeared in Cecil B. DeMilles' Dynamite (1929). Her last role was in Desire (1936) with Marlene Dietrich and Gary Cooper.

According to the United States Census Bureau, the town has a total area of 116.3 square miles (301.3 km²), of which, 47.0 square miles (121.7 km²) of it is land and 69.3 square miles (179.6 km²) of it (59.60%) is water.

As of the census[1] of 2000, there were 623 people, 238 households, and 178 families residing in the town. The population density was 13.3 people per square mile (5.1/km²). There were 348 housing units at an average density of 7.4/sq mi (2.9/km²). The racial makeup of the town was 96.47% White, 1.61% African American, 0.64% Native American, 0.48% Asian, and 0.80% from two or more races. Hispanic or Latino of any race were 2.09% of the population.

There were 238 households out of which 38.2% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 66.4% were married couples living together, 3.4% had a female householder with no husband present, and 24.8% were non-families. 20.6% of all households were made up of individuals and 7.6% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.56 and the average family size was 2.95.

In the town the population was spread out with 28.4% under the age of 18, 6.9% from 18 to 24, 31.9% from 25 to 44, 20.4% from 45 to 64, and 12.4% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 33 years. For every 100 females there were 112.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 118.6 males.

The median income for a household in the town was $30,625, and the median income for a family was $35,313. Males had a median income of $26,490 versus $15,625 for females. The per capita income for the town was $13,170. About 11.2% of families and 11.6% of the population were below the poverty line, including 10.6% of those under age 18 and 21.8% of those age 65 or over.
