Cuthbert Bardsley

Cuthbert Killick Norman Bardsley was the Anglican Bishop of Coventry from 1956 to 1976.

[edit] Early life
He was born on 28 March 1907, the younger son of a Church of England Canon[1]. He was educated at Eton and New College, Oxford.
[edit] Ministry
Created Deacon in 1932, he began his career in the East End[2] and was created Provost of Southwark Cathedral in 1944. He became Suffragan bishop of Croydon in 1947, transferring to the more senior See of Coventry in 1956[3], a post he was to hold for 20 years.

Bardsley was appointed CBE in 1952, an honorary DD of Oxford University in 1957, a ChStJ and an honorary DLitt of Warwick University in 1976.
