Cutaway (3D graphics)

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

In 3D graphics, cutaway involves selectively removing surface elements of a three-dimensional model to make internal features visible, but without sacrificing the outer context entirely.

The technique is used extensively in Computer-aided design, such as in this cutaway drawing of the BMW 507. It has also been incorporated into the user interface of some Computer games. In The Sims, for instance, users can select through a control panel whether to view the house they are building with no walls, cutaway walls, or full walls.[1]
