Fifteen-year-old Callie is confined to a mental hospital after the nurse at her school sees her scars in an attempt to take her pulse. While Callie refuses to speak, she makes friends Sydney and Tiffany, who are drug abuse guests, Becca, Tara, and Debbie, who suffer from weight issues, and Amanda, who also injures herself, and must come to terms with the reasons behind her self-mutilation. But sadly most of her friends are 3rd levels (that they are about to graduate) and Callie is only a level one (new comer) Callie used to be a runner.
