Cut-through
From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
A cut-through is a local neighborhood street or parking lot that is not the starting point or destination of one's trip; rather, it is used to get more quickly from one place to another. The practice is sometimes disliked by residents and business owners, who would prefer not to have this traffic on their roads, for traffic flow and safety reasons. Accordingly, some suburban neighborhoods are purposefully designed with narrow or winding streets that require traffic to move slowly, making it inconvenient for people to use them merely as a way of avoiding heavy traffic elsewhere. Legal restrictions are also sometimes enacted to ban the abuse of cut-throughs.[1]
