From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Cuscutaceae is just a redirect to Cuscuta (since it has only one genus), so why did you make a link to it? -phma

[edit] Convolvulaceae
French Wiki says that:
- Les derniers travaux phylogénétiques incorporent maintenant le genre Cuscuta dans les Convolvulacées.
And Flora Europea also says it's Convolvulaceae. bogdan | Talk 10:04, 29 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Um, no
Actually, the French encyclopedia specifically does the same thing I do:
La cuscute d'Europe (Cuscuta europaea), encore appelée grande cuscute est une plante grimpante parasite de la famille des Cuscutacées. Les derniers travaux phylogénétiques incorporent maintenant le genre Cuscuta dans les Convolvulacées. La cuscute est notamment parasite de la luzerne.
From Cuscute d'Europe
I don't know French, but from what I gather, this is the same.
I don't disagree with you that some place it in the family Convolvulaceae, but I reiterate that it is an older classification and evidence shows that it is outdated.
[edit] Um, yes!
Sorry, you have it the wrong way round, separation in Cuscutaceae is the older classification. Modern genetic studies have shown that Cuscuta belongs in Convolvulaceae (the French agrees with this: "Les derniers travaux phylogénétiques incorporent maintenant le genre Cuscuta dans les Convolvulacées" = "The latest phylogenetic studies now incorporate the genus Cuscuta in the Convolvulaceae") - MPF 22:19, 31 July 2005 (UTC)
[edit] Dodder Smells Its Victims...
Recent studies at Pennsylvania State University have shown that dodder grows toward the smell of plants, not green light shining through them. As bizarre as this may seem, it is true, and you can read the artice here.

Read this today, confirms above statement. I feel it should be added to the page however I don't have any knowledge of this subject except what I read in the article, so I don't think I'm the best person to add this. Hopefully someone who can properly update this page soon.

[edit] Cuscuta planiflora
Sorry, but why does the Cuscuta planiflora not exist in the species classification in the Cuscuta page (please see this)? Thank you very much for fixing that or for any other explanation. --DrFO.Jr.Tn (talk) 16:12, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
- Done: It is a synonym of Cuscuta approximata Bab. (please see this) --DrFO.Jr.Tn (talk) 16:23, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
