User talk:Curious

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Welcome to Wikipedia!

I found your edits to the article Obesity very interesting. Unfortunately, they're a bit incomplete, and I'd like your help with them.

Primarily, the problem is that this seems to be a discussion of one particular theory about obesity. You apparently believe this theory; and while I haven't studied the matter, I must confess that I tend to agree! However, as long as ideas are under dispute, Wikipedia won't take sides on an issue (see Wikipedia:NPOV for more on this policy). Since your edits simply stated things as fact, without explaining who believes them, I removed them from the page. (Actually, I put them on the talk page, so they're not lost!) But I think that the material could still be a very useful addition to Wikipedia, as long as it's appropriately attributed.

There are actually some other problems with what you wrote -- like style and spelling. But actually, those aren't problems at all! The great thing about Wikipedia is that after you finish writing, then other people will come along and edit your text to make it better. But before that starts, I need your help in tracking down where these ideas come from, so that we can get them included in a properly attributed NPOV way.

Once again, welcome aboard, and I hope that you decide to stay!
