[edit] Removal of the See also box???

I've noticed that the "See also" box has been removed, I'm just curious as to the reason why this is? Jezstar (talk) 08:23, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

'See also' sections are generally discouraged in favour of embedding links into the appropriate bits of the text of the article and the related categories. --Nick Dowling (talk) 09:17, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Just a quick note...

About the F35 and the Boeing 707.

In the section that talks about the F35 the words under it are "An estimated one hundred F-35As are to replace the Super Hornets and F-111s from 2013." I just wanted to say that the F-35A is a specific variant of the F-35 and as you can see on the website http://www.defence.gov.au/raaf/aircraft/jsf.htm there are two other planned variants to enter service.

With the Boeing 707 its says on the website http://www.defence.gov.au/raaf/aircraft/b707.htm "From 2009, the 707s will be progressively replaced by new KC-30B Multi-Role Tanker Transports, specially-modified Airbus A-330s." So are the five 707's still being operated until 2009 or are they already scrapped and we are currently without refuelling aircraft?

The RAAF page on the F-35 states that "Australia is expected to acquire the F-35A CTOL variant" and this is consistent with all other sources. The C variant is designed to operate off large aircraft carriers and is only useful to the US Navy and there's no current support to purchase the B variant to operate from the RAN's new amphibious ships. http://www.defence.gov.au/media/download/2008/feb/20080211/index.htm states that only one B-707 is operational and it will be retired on 30 June 2008 (which is also in the Department of Defence's budget allocation for this year). The RAAF will then not have any tankers until the first KC-30 enters service in 2009. --Nick Dowling (talk) 10:00, 31 March 2008 (UTC)
