Curtin University of Technology Sarawak Campus is the first off-shore campus of Curtin University of Technology. It provides local and international students with the opportunity to receive a world-class education in Sarawak, Malaysia.

Curtin University of Technology Sarawak Campus, Malaysia (Curtin Sarawak) is the first offshore campus of Curtin University of Technology Western Australia. Located in Miri, Sarawak, Curtin Sarawak is the first offshore campus set up in East Malaysia.

Curtin's reputation for excellence in the South East Asian region provided the basis for the Sarawak State Government's initiative to invite Curtin to establish an International university in Sarawak. Curtin Sarawak has been actively involved in Malasyian education for the past two decades and the establishment of Curtin Sarawak's campus ensures that it will continue to increase its contributions towards excellence in Malaysian tertiary education.

Curtin Sarawak's operations in Miri, Sarawak commenced in February 1999. In 2002, the new campus with architecturally designed buildings fully equipped with state-of-the-art equipment and facilities was built.

In November 1999, Curtin Sarawak was awarded the Multimedia Super Corridor status and was renewed in 2006.

The Pre-university programs at Curtin University of Technology, Sarawak Campus, have been designed to prepare students for university study by familiarizing them with the requirements for successful undergraduate study. In addition, the programs aim at developing: academic diligence, critical analysis, and a raft of generic skills in students. They provide a solid foundation for the students to adapt to university education more confidently, both in terms of level and style of education. Apart from providing a solid foundation for continued studies at Curtin University of Technology, they offer a number of distinct advantages:

Curtin Sarawak School of Business is increasingly being recognised as the leading provider of business education in the region. Its forte is in the field of accounting and finance while in other areas of management education it is clearly gaining strength. The key factor attracting students worldwide to the School is the internationally recognized qualifications, which are accredited by numerous international as well as national professional associations and governmental agencies. Also, the quality of the teaching and learning environment, the reputation of its academics and the application of up-to-date teaching and learning methodologies and technologies allow students to gain exceptional learning experience. This prepares them for immediate employment upon graduation. In addition, new knowledge, generated through research and development in the School, is increasingly shaping business practices in the region through consultancy activities conducted by the academics of the School. The School’s strong affiliations to business organizations including multinational corporations in and around the region provide a testimony of its graduates’ immediate employability as well as the significant role it plays in the industries.

[edit] Department of Mass Communication

Mass Communication was originally set up in 2003, as part of the School of Business, and officially became a Department in 2006. The Department of Mass Communication has been growing steadily over the years in terms of staff and students, building along the way a good reputation as a provider of high quality education.

School of Engineering and Science at Curtin Sarawak was established in 2000.

The School offers a wide range of Engineering and Science courses. These include the four-year courses leading to a Bachelor of Engineering (Hons) degree in Chemical Engineering, Civil and Construction Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Computer Systems Engineering and Electronics and Communication Engineering. The School also conducts three-year Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science, Life Sciences, Applied Geology and Geophysics, and a Bachelor of Technology in Computer Systems and Networking. Besides, the School now offers doctoral and masters programs.

The School of Engineering and Science at Curtin Sarawak is a very large family. The School draws upon the experience and the knowledge of many local and foreign engineers and professionals to teach our students, so that the courses offered always remain practice-oriented and relevant to the community. Academics from the School are active in many areas of research and in consultancy activities through Curtin Consultancy Services.

Curtin Sarawak offers identical degrees to the main campus in Western Australia. Every aspect of the academic programmes, including the course materials and examinations delivered at Curtin Sarawak is similar to those offered to its mother campus.

Examinations for the degree programmes are set and moderated at Curtin's main campus in Perth to ensure that they meet and fulfill the academic standards. Academics from Curtin University of Technology WA visits the Curtin Sarawak campus on a regular basis for quality audit and for consultations on various issues ranging from assignments, projects, tasks and other assessment.

Staffs are expected to develop expertise and innovation in their teaching and research in partnership with students who are self-directed, motivated and active learners. At Curtin Sarawak, academic staffs are committeed to ensuring graduates become thinkers, problem solvers of the future and life long learners.
