Curse of Thorn

The Curse of Thorn, as explained by Tommy Doyle in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers (the final canon film), is a constellation that could appear during Halloween. To prevent mass death among the tribes, one family was chosen to bear the curse. This curse would require the bearer to sacrificially murder his or her entire family, which in turn would spare their community from events such as plague and drought. The first appearance of the Curse of Thorn is when Michael hibernates in a hermit’s hut in Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers after surviving a barrage of gunfire by the police. It it also seen painted on a wall of Michael's childhood home. The mark is seen later in the film, this time on the wrist of the "Mysterious Stranger" who frees Myers from his jail cell. The Stranger's identity and motives are explained further in Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.

The curse was greatly explored in the "Producer's Cut" of Halloween 6, with more importance given to Dr. Wynn and his Cult. At the end of that cut, a dying Wynn passes the curse to Dr. Loomis which is the real reason Loomis screams at the end of the film.
