[edit] Merging pages

Thanks for the info on merging pages. I realized that I made the mistake on the Ohio Institute of Photography and Technology page and I was trying to figure out how to delete the incorrect page. Looks like you got it taken care of for me. I appreciate the help. I hope I get this all figured out so I can keep making contribution! Thanks!--Jtknowles (talk) 22:14, 7 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Question about deleting page

I recently received your email about deleting the ASPEN 360 Accounts Payable Edition page. I checked the links that you sent and I'm not sure why this page is being deleted. I read the guidelines and didn't notice anything that pertained to this entry. Please let me know the reason for deletion so I can avoid this in the future. Thanks for your help. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Aspen360 (talkcontribs) 14:46, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

The ASPEN 360 Accounts Payable Edition was deleted because it was advertising for a company (see WP:Spam). The article may also have met the notability guidelines. If you have any further questions, please ask the administrator who deleted the page User:Seicer (talk). This editor will be able to better explain why ASPEN 360 Accounts Payable Edition was deleted. Hope this helps! Cunard (talk) 19:53, 10 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Question about deleting another page

I am not sure why you are deleting the Soul Generation page. Citing "(A7 (group): Group/band/club/company/etc; doesn't indicate importance/significance)" does not tell me anything. using this criteria why not delete en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Twisted_Sister or en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Perri_Reid; Their Importance or Significance to music as a whole are no different then Soul Generation. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stallsmithb (talkcontribs) 19:24, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

I did not delete Soul Generation [1] ⎯ an administrator did. Soul Generation was deleted because the content in the article did not show that this band is significant. In response to why Twisted Sister is not deleted, this band has produced some hit songs. For example, We're Not Gonna Take It (Twisted Sister song) was a hit song in 1984. This "single reached #21 on the Billboard Hot 100." Also, I Wanna Rock is another hit song by this band. It reached "#68 on the Billboard Chart in November of 1984." These achievements make them notable enough that many people will want to read an article about them. Perri Reid is notable because she founded the TLC (band). This band is "one of the best selling girl groups of all time." TLC has "sold over 45 million records worldwide." Her achievements are remarkable because she started one of the most successful bands ever. If you can prove that the band Soul Generation also has these types of notable achievements, then the article will will deserve to stay on Wikipedia. Even though Wikipedia nearly has a lot of disk space, we cannot have articles about everything. The articles that remain on Wikipedia are articles that people are interested in. Since Twisted Sister and Perri Reid have so many significant contributions to our society, people from all around the world will be interested about them. The bottom line is: if Soul Generation doesn't have these types of notable accomplishments, then they won't have an article on Wikipedia. However, if you think that the band meets our criteria at WP:BAND, then you can appeal the deletion at WP:DRV. Good luck! Cunard (talk) 23:09, 13 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Question about deleting a page of a famous historical figure page

I was just starting a page for Reverend David McGregore and editing in the references, and 5 minutes later, along comes Mr. Anal Retentive and deletes it in its infancy, what’s with you, do you automatically delete anything first and ask questions later? Do you do any kind of research before shooting down a factual posting? You just ticked me off, I think you see where I am heading, but I’d better stop before you cop an attitude towards me. Ticked —Preceding unsigned comment added by Lookinhere (talkcontribs) 17:48, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Edit conflict

Hi. I just want to remind you to watch for Edit conflicts when saving pages. When you added a request at WP:RFPP, you saved over a new version of the page. See here. So, when you get an edit conflict, please don't save the page, but go back and re-add your comment on the new version. Please read Help:Edit conflict for more information. Also, add new requests for protection to the top of the section, not the bottom. Thanks, - Rjd0060 (talk) 01:47, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

Okay. Thanks for the reminder! Cunard (talk) 21:45, 17 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Thomas Moorcroft/Regulus Black

I can confirm that he is playing Regulus in the new film. Mainly because he is me :) and I've just done some filming with Jim Broadbent this past Wednesday. TheHeartbreakKid15 (talk) 18:47, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

Very interesting! Do have any sources or links to prove that you really are Thomas Moorcroft and that Thomas Moorcroft is really playing Regulus Black? Cunard (talk) 19:32, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

I can give you my email address, my personal facebook, bebo and myspace pages if you want and i can tell you personally about it. I was notified of getting the part last august, went up for a wig fitting in December, costume fit in January, another one last week and the final filming was this past Wednesday at Leavesden studios. TheHeartbreakKid15 (talk) 19:37, 22 March 2008 (UTC)

You don't need to give me any of your personal information. I believe what you say but I'm still not sure if you are notable enough as a number of the Harry Potter cast members do not have articles (see List of Harry Potter cast members). I'll let more experienced editors take a look at it [2]. BTW, good job for landing the part of Regulus Black. Cheers! Cunard (talk) 00:59, 23 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Question about deleting Jayms Madison page

Jayms Madison has worked with Jay Z and Ghostface Killah and has written for Taylor Dane. I dont not understand why her page was deleted... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Siiren (talkcontribs) 20:28, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

The page for Jayms Madison was deleted because even though she has worked for notable people, she does not have any notable accomplishments herself. For her to have an article on Wikipedia, she must be notable. If you think that her page was deleted in error, you can contact one of these admins to get your page back so that you won't need to start over again. Cunard (talk) 20:38, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

HER NOTICEABLE ACCOMPLISHMENTS ARE APPEARING ON THEIR ALBUMS AND SONGWRITING ON THEIR ALBUMS... WHAT MORE DOES SHE HAVE TO DO? —Preceding unsigned comment added by Siiren (talkcontribs) 23:17, 25 March 2008 (UTC)

If you believe that Jayms Madison is notable and should have a page on Wikipedia, please raise her notability and why she deserves an article at Wikipedia:Deletion review. Thanks! Cunard (talk) 01:15, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Im not trying to be an asshole but this wikipedia debating system is very hard to use... its like a a maze... I see the points as simple... she songwrote and was featured on two major label rap albums... one of which went platinum and was nominated for a Grammy. I dont see how shes not notable when we have other songwriters and performers on this site that have done much less. Sometimes I think whoever is in charge here gets power hungry... lol. Does she have to be Beyonce to get a page? CRAZINESS. Shes a notable songwriter/singer because her lyrics/vocals are found on Grammy nominated material... which was also a soundtrack to a major movie. And everytime I try to explain that, one of you guys direct me to someone else. lol... —Preceding unsigned comment added by Siiren (talkcontribs) 12:38, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

Since you consider Jayms Madison to be notable, I recommend you to request one of these admins to provide you with Jayms Madison's article that was deleted. Then you should re-write the article to meet the notability guidelines. You should also provide references for what you write in the article. The most important thing is that the article must show why Jayms Madison is notable and why she should have an article on Wikipedia. But a Google search shows very few hits for Jayms Madison, so I'm not sure if she would pass an AfD. You may want to choose another notable songwriter to write an article about, see this. Good luck! Cunard (talk) 17:51, 26 March 2008 (UTC)

[edit] WP:UAA

Hello, just to let you know, since Wikipedia is not censored, a username having the word "porn" in it may not necessarily be a violation of the username policy. In this case, however, I have still blocked the username as it was being used to promote that particular person. Thanks for your help, I just wanted to point that out. Happy editing. [edit] First Post: Shapiro (band)

I've started a talk page to prevent the quick deletion of my article Shapiro (band). Please let me know what else I can do to prevent this article from being deleted. --Daniel W. White (talk) 22:42, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

You must show that this band is worthy of having an article on Wikipedia (see Wikipedia:Notability (music)). A Google search shows few results for this specific band, so it might not be notable enough to be on Wikipedia. Has this band produced any hit songs? Has this band performed at any important ceremony (e.g. Oscars)? If not, they might not pass the notability guidelines on Wikipedia. Cunard (talk) 22:49, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

Do I need to show their worthiness via the article or to you? The artist is currently working with the producer for Ben Folds, Sixpence None the Richer, Death Cab for Cutie. They are playing a nationally recognized festival on the eastcoast next weekend called MACROCK. By googling the bands name, you find their website(s) as the top hits. They've toured nationally and been recongized for it through blogs, newspaper coverage (articles found on their .com) and multiple radio interivews/coverage. --Daniel W. White (talk) 23:00, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

You need to show their worthiness via the article. I will not be making the final decision as whether the article will be deleted. An administrator will make the final call. You should insert what you told me into the article. This information will show that the band is more notable, but I'm still not sure if it meets the notability guidelines. Cunard (talk) 23:05, 27 March 2008 (UTC)

This collaboration is spam. The sole purpose to link to this website is to increase the sales of the artist's works of art. Wikipedia is not a collection of links. Futhermore, this artist does not meet the notability guidelines. A Google search here shows very few results relating to this artist. Many artists sell e-mail art, but their websites can't all be linked to on the E-mail art article or any other article on Wikipedia. Please do not insert any more spam links. Thanks for your cooperation! Cunard (talk) 06:25, 12 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Gmail

I am being bold!!! One of the reasons Wikipedia is so widely used is that it is more up to date than any normal encyclopedia.100 MB is a perfectly reasonable update point vs. 500 MB.Xp54321 (talk) 23:16, 24 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, you should be bold, but another reason why Wikipedia has so many quality articles is that we have so many quality articles is that we reach consensus for the controversial changes we may make to an article. Whether or not to update the article by 100 MB or 500 MB is currently being discussed on Gmail's talk page. Please direct your reasons there for why the Gmail article should be updated by 100 MB instead of only 500 MB. Also, please heed the sockpuppetry warnings that JGXenite gave you here. These edits here and here appear to be both by you. Cheers, Cunard (talk) 19:18, 25 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Oliviermillerioux

You just reported "Oliviermillerioux" as a promotional username. That's someone's name. Editing under your own name is not an inappropriately "promotional username" (I sure hope... look at mine!)

Although Bearian was very quick to block based on your report, I think it was a bad idea.

If your intent was to draw attention to the conflict of interest, what you're looking for is WP:COIN. rspeer / ɹəədsɹ 17:43, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

Yes, but if you look at Oliviermillerioux's deleted contributions, you will see that they created a spam page promoting their website, which has "Oliviermillerioux" in it. Isn't that promotional? Cunard (talk) 21:27, 26 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Andréia Schwartz

I didn't notice what I wrote sounded as an attack, I just re-wrote what I heard from a News show tonight, but, I'm sorry anyway. I only ask you to please invite someone else to re-write that article, instead of just deleting it. Thanks. Trypanossoma (talk) 05:34, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

I'm sorry if I offended you, but there was no need for this. I went offline a couple minutes after I tagged that page for deletion, so I didn't see your messages until today. If you want a copy of that deleted page, please ask one of these admins. The article you wrote consisted of mostly negative unsourced information about Andréia Schwartz. If you wish to rewrite this article again, please add reliable sources and make sure that the article meets the biography of living person's guidelines. Thanks, Cunard (talk) 22:13, 5 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] re Last Warning

I wasn't the original creator of the page and am merely trying to bring the article up to spec. If there's a dispute on whether or not something is article-worthy it should go through the normal delete process, that I'm removing your tag makes it a dispute. 98.217.179.120 (talk) 07:37, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

From the edit history of the page, it it is apparent that you and the other IPs are the same person. Cunard (talk) 07:39, 7 May 2008 (UTC)
Any casual glance at the IPs or content of the edits would show that to be false. -98.217.179.120 (talk) 07:40, 7 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Crush 'em

As you can see it redirects to Crush 'Em, the name of the single, just in case someone misspells the name-- Rockk3r Spit it Out! 03:57, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

Okay, I only marked it for speedy deletion because your first edit on Crush 'em was only "megadeth single", qualifying it for db-nocontent. The next time you create a redirect, please do it on your first edit to the page. Otherwise, it will show up in the new pages log and an editor will mark it for deletion. Cheers! Cunard (talk) 04:05, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Commonwealth North

Please note that the Commonwealth North entry includes information making speedy deletion under A7 for organizations inappropriate. Here's what I just posted on the talk page for that entry.

Note also that the entry posted today is a complete rewrite and expansion of a truncated entry submitted (and removed) a couple months ago. Here's the defense of the new entry:

This page is for a public affairs organization that closely resembles -- in fact, is modeled after -- the Commonwealth Club of California which has been a Wikipedia entry for some time. This page includes a link to Wikipedia's Commonwealth Club of California page.

Information contained on the Commonwealth North Web site, provided in external links on the Commonwealth North page, includes transcripts of presentations to the organization by a number of notable Americans including members of Congress and the federal government and prominent foreign public figures who spoke on subjects of wide general interest.

Opening the Arctic National Wildlife Reserve for oil development, currently an issue in the presidential primary campaigns, is only one of the topics that comes before Commonwealth North and is discussed there by those leading efforts to develop it as well as those most concerned with development's potential impact on its ecology.

In my view, it would be a serious error to ignore this organization's role in promoting understanding of national issues in addition to those of more regional or local interest. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Llpearson (talkcontribs) 04:35, 11 April 2008 (UTC)

You make a very good point. Sorry for the speedy tag — I've removed it. Thanks for creating the page. My apologies for tagging it for deletion. Cheers, and happy editing! Cunard (talk) 04:43, 11 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Re: Connor Kiley

It was a technical glitch. I use Twinkle, see. I saw the page and thought "Well, it's probably not notable, but I can't A7 because it appears to assert notability. I'll PROD it and include the policies. It'll probably not be contested." The page must have been speedied while I was filling out the reason on the PROD window. When I clicked "Submit Query" Twinkle edited the old version of the page, thereby recreating it. Sorry about that. Hope I didn't over-explain. ~ Wakanda's Black Panther!/ 00:00, 14 May 2008 (UTC)

Hello, I see you have proposed the deletion of this article, but it was cancelled by the creator. I also proposed its deletion, but it was cancelled again (actually an article may not be prodded again, it should go to AfD instead, and that's what I did after I realized my mistake). If you're interested, you can go to the deletion debate to post your opinion. Victor Lopes (talk) 18:03, 24 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Chlotrudis

Hi there. In early May, when I discovered the new article "Chloturdis Awards 2007" (sic) and the request that the article be expanded and categories added, I was just about to do that. It was then that I discovered the misspelling of "Chlotrudis," and planned to move the article so the name would be correctly spelled. And then I realized the content of the article was fabricated. Only one award listed (Daniel Day-Lewis for There Will Be Blood) was actually presented by the Chlotrudis Society (see Chlotrudis Awards 2008 for the correct list of winners; the award years are now correctly assigned). The other award winners were made up. I then created the article Chlotrudis Awards 2007 with the correct content for that year's awards. I don't know whether the misspelling of the film society in the first article was a typo, but listing false award recipients was not. I can't tell whether the "Chloturdis" article is still on track for deletion, but I think it could be. I thought I'd bring the matter to your attention since you're the last person to touch the article. Thanks for your attention. — WFinch (talk) 18:17, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

The hoax article has not been deleted yet. It was redirected by Nancy to the Chlotrudis Awards 2007, the correct article you created. I then added "R from misspelling" to indicate that the initial spelling was a mistake. The page is still there because a reader might accidentally search for that awards ceremony with the misspelling. If you believe that the redirect should not exist, you can list it for deletion at Wikipedia:Redirects for deletion for the community to decide whether the redirect is implausible typo or not. Hope this clears things up a bit, Cunard (talk) 18:34, 25 May 2008 (UTC)
Oh, that sounds fine — I didn't understand what procedures are in place, and I sure didn't want anyone going to too much bother with that nonsense. I have the Chlotrudis Society on my watchlist because it's been vandalized in the past, and I saw that misspelled article pop up as a "see also" there. — WFinch (talk) 21:18, 25 May 2008 (UTC)

[edit] deletion of schoolisland.com page

Hello there. I wanted you to know that I attempted to erase the statement "clearly the operators are sadists" but that I was unable too. However, please note that Professor Bill is NOT a real person. [edit] HELP?

I realize why the other pages were deleted, the numerous links to one website, however I do not understand why Amy Morken's page is also up for speedy deletion. If you can help me and let me know how I can create pages for artists please let me know. I have followed the format of other "lesser known" artists whose pages seem to have escaped your watchful eye, maybe they're just unnoticed? This is for my job, I need to be able to create these pages "lawfully" please get back to me soon. Cofawiki (talk) 16:24, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

The other pages were deleted because they were spam. The problem with Amy Morken's page is that it doesn't assert her notability and why she deserves an article on Wikipedia. In addition, it includes links to her website and is also considered spam. I'm not good at evaluating the notability of artists but Amy Morken doesn't seem to be notable. If you would like to create a page on a notable artist, please see the notability guidelines for entertainers. Good luck, Cunard (talk) 16:38, 3 June 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Another Question

First of all, thank you for your feedback.

However I have a few remaining questions:

1) Amy Morken does not have a web page, therefore it would be impossible to link to it. If you are referring to her Gallery's web page, all of the artists who are of equal importance that I have looked up, and modeled my page after, have links to their representation. See: Sterling Ruby or Ryan Trecartin as examples.

2) If you agree that you are not good at assessing artists notability it seems strange to remove a page because you believe they are not.

3) Ms. Morken has been in notable, reliable sources which I cited, The New York Times and Art in America are both credible sources in which she has been discussed.

I'm sorry if this comes across as terse, but I believe artists who have had solo exhibitions in New York deserve to be noted. These artist ARE NOT unknown in the art world. I am trying to follow the guidelines and this removal seems unnecessary. Please look over the post and let me know what I can do to meet your requirements.

Thank you.

Cofawiki (talk) 17:00, 3 June 2008 (UTC) username: cofawiki

I will not pursue the deletion of Amy Morken but other editors might if they agree that she is not notable. Since Amy Morken's article has reliable sources, I will take another look at the article and try to fix it up bit. I am not that familiar with how exhibitions factor into an artist's notability, so in the future, I will refrain from tagging for deletion artists with a questionable notability. [edit] I rollback --> I notify

Hi. I see you notify the user Fozzie 111 for a vandalism in Galàpagos Islands. Well, can you say me when you rollback here? If someone other does a rollback, please, don't notify the user. I may change your sign in the mine. Sorry. Mojska all you want 17:40, 7 June 2008 (UTC)

Sorry, I didn't notice that you had undid that user's vandalism. I also pressed the undo button, but you probably beat me to it. I'll be more careful next time. My apologies, Cunard (talk) 17:43, 7 June 2008 (UTC)
