Heat in combustion chamber improves fuel economy, I was taught in 4H, when I was 10. Going from 160 to 190 with a good thermostat, is supposed to be good for a 10% improvment in economy on a deisel. If the temp stays stable even after a long pull, the thermostat is controling the temp in the motor. The radiator has cooler water for the engine if the thermostat lets it flow. OLD retired farmer.
No, 220 degrees is to hot, thermostat opens fully before 205, and should never exceed that. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 216.81.193.253 (talk) 21:47, 18 September 2007 (UTC)
