Cumpăna is a commune in Constanţa County, Romania.

The village was mentioned under the name Haşiduluc for the first time in 1870 by Ion Ionescu de la Brad in his work "Excursion agricole dans la plaine de la Dobroudja". It was renamed to Cumpăna in 1926.

The commune includes two villages:

  • Cumpăna (historical name: Turkish: Haşiduluc)
  • Straja (historical name: Mahometcea, Turkish: Mahometça)

In the past few years, Cumpana became a favourite residential area for the people running away from the crowded streets of Constanta. Recent developments like sewage, natural gas line and proximity to new major hypermarkets accelerated that process. There are two churches, of which the interior of the newest was completed in 2007.

The streets are partially well mentained, except the remote areas in way of new development areas.

Cumpana was chosen and nominated as EU Village.
