Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors

The Cummings Jewish Centre for Seniors (CJCS) is a constituent agency of FEDERATION CJA in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. CJCS offers a wide range of services and programs to approximately 7,500 Jewish seniors aged 50 or more with varying degrees of mobility and interest. Clients can access a range of services from homecare to subsidies for transportation and medication, and they can take advantage of fitness and wellness programs, culturally sensitive recreational events and a variety of educational programs. The agency boasts a fully integrated service system that fills the Jewish senior’s most every need. Clients are treated professionally and with dignity, as CJCS promotes positive attitudes towards aging, encourages independent living, and enhances the quality of life of our elderly population.
Over 3,800 seniors are members at CJCS, and 1,200 volunteers are active in assisting the day-to-day operations of the agency. The Support Services department continues to take over 2,500 intakes a year and refers seniors to additional resources in the community, where appropriate. The agency plays an active role in government advocacy for the rights of the senior population, and is touted across North America for its leadership in services to Holocaust survivors.
