Cumberland pie

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Cumberland pie is a warming, traditional English dish, made of three layers. The base of the dish is a cooked mixture of meat (such as beef) and vegetables (such as carrots). The meat and vegetables are then topped with mashed potato, as is done with a Shepherd's Pie. However, unlike with a Shepherd's pie or Cottage pie, the Cumberland pie has an additional top layer that may consist of breadcrumbs, cheese and butter.
