Talk:Culture of Liberia

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

This page needs to seriously be rewritten. The historicity of much of it is very questionable, especially the discussion of the Bassa peoples origins. I don't know if what is claimed is what the Bassa say of themselves or is being represented as fact, so I don't want to delete anything unless someone can come forward with more information. 24.218.24.39 05:53, 19 Jan 2005 (UTC)

[edit] Sudan?

Mandingo Tribes from Sudan? I think it is more properly "the Sudan" which is better known as "the Sahel" or the plains south of the Sahara. The Mandingo did not come from the present nation of Sudan, but from Mali, NIger, and other countries in Eastern Africa. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Nero42 (talkcontribs) 14:44, 7 April 2008 (UTC)

[edit] Bassa- Abyssinia? pffft!!!

Abyssinia - Bassa? I don't think so! Abyssinia comes from Habasha a tribe from southern Yemen. If the guy who wrote that article could please explain to me how Abyssinia has had a history of habitation by Cushitic peoples how it could be related to the Bassa of Liberia. Bassa is a place in Mozambique and as people should know the people who have lived in Mozambique are and have been descended from Bantu and possible Khoisan peoples.
