Thanx Chaipau for creating this article frm the text written in the Assam main page. I knew that the text which was already created thr was disbalancing Assam due to its increasing size.......I will try to develop it here n also will summarise the part in the main Assam. May be we should place a lady in Mekhela Chadar, rather than in a cheap Pink Sari !! - Bikram98 10:40, 3 April 2007 (UTC)
- I definitely second that. -Deepraj | Talk 10:18, 25 May 2007 (UTC)
- I have removed it and also have msgd User:Jeff Silvers: "The women in Culture of Assam does not represent a native women in her appearance and dress. Yes, she has eastern indian looks possibly from Jharkhand, Orissa or West Bengal. Though i agree to that there are similar looks in our tea-tribes (tea-garden labourers originally from Jharkhand, Orissa, etc), but her attire is even not the one a tea-tribe-women in assam wears. I will look for few pictures of native women or even of one from the tea tribe." Porikolpok Oxom 06:27, 28 May 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Textiles and dresses of Assam
I am introducing a small article on Textiles and Dresses of Assam. Please contribute to its content. Once there is reasonable mass in there it would be good to put in a summary within the Assam or Culture of Assam page. Question is would it be best to have it in the Assam page or Culture of Assam page? Looking forward to feedback.
The Gamosa section in Culture of Assam should also be separated out into its own article leaving behind only a summary. I will see if I can manage, otherwise feel free to help.
