Cultural Council for Monterey County

Arts Council for Monterey County, also known as The Cultural Council for Monterey County (CCMC), is the official arts agency for Monterey County, California. CCMC, a non-for-profit organization promotes and supports education, appreciation and excellence in the arts in Monterey County. CCMC fosters cultural awareness and understanding, helping to provide an array of aesthetic and educational experiences for adults and children. Formed in 1982, it serves as Monterey County's local partner to the California Arts Council. Michael Houston, an artist in Monterey, California, is the current (2006) president of the Arts Council for Monterey County.
CCMC provides technical and financial support grants to over fifty arts organizations. Arts education is offered through the Professional Artists in the Schools program to school students. Art In Public Places a new program for the arts sponsored by the council.
The Cultural Council for Monterey County launched a new website in 2006 to announce the latest news and information regarding artists, events, organizations, and education programs in the region.
The Arts Council for Monterey County runs under the California state arts council, the California Arts Council (CAC).
