Gallo pinto, as well as other meals, are common to a lot of latin american countries. To claim ownership of it is as silly as trying to proof who invented a word.

There is not such thing as tradinitional costariican dinner. In costa rica, despite of efforts by NGOs, the mainstrem culture still diminishes other cultures, like the caribbean and the pacific. Costrican culture has historically been synonyms with the culture of the capital city.
