Cubop, ocassionally referred to as "afro-cubop" or "afrobop," is a type of Afro-Cuban Jazz that mixes Afro-Cuban rhythms with harmonies and musical timbre typical of Bebop. It is among the earliest types of Latin Jazz. Cubop was developed in the early 1940s by both Cuban musicians and Jazz musicians, with Dizzy Gillespie, Mario Bauza, and Stan Kenton being among some of the most notable contributors.
