Cubic feet per minute

"CFM" redirects here. For other uses, see CFM (disambiguation).
Cubic feet per minute (CFPM) is a non-SI unit of measurement of gasflow (most often airflow) that indicates how many cubic feet of gas (most often air) pass by a stationary point in one minute. In other words, it is a unit for measuring the rate of flow of a gas or air volume into or out of a space at a given temperature.
[edit] Conversion factor for SI conversions
1 CFPM equals approximately 0.471947443 Liter per second (l/s) or 1.6990107955 cubic Meter per hour (m3/h).
[edit] Applications
The CFPM unit, along with its SI counterparts, is used with:
- Industrial hygiene
- ventilation engineering
- Air Compressors and Pneumatic tools
- Computer cooling, specifically overclocking
- Fog machines
The CFPM unit was also formerly used in the engineering of carburetors, and is still used in fields where carburetors are still in service, such as the classic car and vintage aircraft hobbies.
