Cubia is a fictional boss monster from .hack, a franchise that encompasses several video games, anime and manga.
In the first four games, it frequently attempts to prevent the protagonist Kite from progressing in his quest to solve the mysterious events surrounding the MMORPG The World and their repercussions in the real world.
In XXXX, Cubia spends most of his time in the form of a boy who has a bracelet like Kite's. He befriends Kite, and they go around destroying the eight phases together.
In GU, Cubia returns again, this time as the anti-epitaph, the shadow cast by the light of Rebirth. It spreads throughout the internet, which results in things all over the world, including nuclear reactors, malfunctioning. It has power equal to the eight epitaphs combined, which puts Haseo's party at a disadvantage as Ovan was lost when he activated the Rebirth. However, he returns all of a sudden at the very end and lends Haseo his power, which results in the Cubia Core's destruction.

Found in the .hack games, Cubia represents the 'opposite side' of the mystical "Twilight Bracelet", being born when the Bracelet was first created. Cubia did however not have a physical form until Kite, the protagonist in the .hack video games, data drained the first Phase, Skeith. Skeith's massive amount of data built up and made a physical form for Cubia. Every time Kite data drained a Phase, Cubia got stronger.
Aura sends many e-mails to Kite, telling him not to fight Cubia. This is because if he does kill Cubia, the Bracelet will also be destroyed, taking away any chance Kite has to defeating the final Phase, and The World will be destroyed. Despite this, Kite fights anyway but has no luck destroying Cubia until he understands how the Bracelet and Cubia are linked. Kite tells BlackRose to attack the Bracelet, destroying it along with Cubia, leaving them no way to defeat Corbenik, the Eighth and Final Phase.

In G.U. it is revealed that Cubia was created by Harald as the anti-existence to the Epitaph Users. When Ovan releases Rebirth throughout the Internet, a new Cubia is born. The new Cubia can be seen in numerous areas of The World, and exists throughout the rest of the Internet as well. In a final act of desperation, it is defeated by Haseo with help from Ovan. Cubia in its new form can spawn an unlimited amount of Gomoras, which spread throughout The World.
Cubia's outer shell appearance is similar to the previous game, save for its massive size, and its core appears to have a copy of Haseo mounted on the head along with core targets, not to mention wings. The Gomora it spawns are significantly weaker than the previous ones.
