Cuban Groove was founded in 2002 when Chris and Jaclyn won the British Salsa Championship and wanted to develop their cabaret of Salsa and other international Latin dances.
The national tour CubaNite also added to their fame – but it was the 2003 visit to Cuba that really put their name in lights.
They became the first non Cubans to dance at Cabaret Tropicana after being invited to Havana By HM Ambassador Paul Hare [1]
This news spread like wildfire [2] around the world and international tours to Barbados, New York, Orlando and Europe quickly followed.
Winning the official World Salsa Championships three times in a row (even beating off stiff competition from native dancers in Aruba) placed them firmly on the world stage.
The Cuban Groove Dance Company was formed in 2006. By this time the couple were already working on Strictly Come Dancing where their choreography work included devising the format to the now "standard format" of Pro/Celeb group dances & helping to promote professional standard Salsa amongst the celebs.
They were then also asked to be the Latin specialists for Strictly Dance Fever.
They actively work with the National Children’s Home (NCH) & they are dedicated to sharing their interests with the next generation.
Speaking four languages allows them to communicate easily worldwide, and the unique coaching format has seen at least 120,000 people advancing their Salsa skills.
