[edit] 25th Ward Alderman
Cuahutemoc Morfin was a candidate for the office of 25th Ward Alderman of Chicago on February 27, 2007. He was one of five candidates vying to unseat the current Alderman Daniel Solis.
Four days before the election Ambrosio Medrano, a former Chicago alderman, had been disqualified from the election[1], because of a felony conviction of extortion in 1996 from the Silver Shovel Scandal while holding office. Medrano had endorsed Morfin in hopes that they would be able generate enough support together to force Solis into a run-off election.
He did receive 1535 votes placing him in 2nd place with 22.40% of the total vote. Morfin was 95 votes short from forcing a run off election. [2]
