Purpose of use

  1. Because of the extremely confusing nature of the broadcast network realignment and the sheer number of stations involved, displaying icons next to the network names may make things easier to understand for readers
  2. This image is a low-resolution image of the logo of a television network and television station.
  3. This image does not limit the copyright holder's ability to profit from the original source, nor will it dilute the importance or recognition of the logo in connection with its organization.
  4. This image enhances the article in which it's displayed, as it provides an immediate relevance to the reader more capably than the textual description alone.
  5. Use of the logo visually identifies the station's programming and ownership in a manner that mere prose cannot, and meets all criteria in WP:NFCC.

Not replaceable; logos are always presumed non-free per WP:LOGO.

Though this image is subject to copyright, its use is covered by the U.S. fair use laws because:

  1. It is a low resolution copy of a logo.
  2. The image is only a small portion of the commercial product.
  3. The use of the logo will not affect the value of the original work or limit the copyright holder's rights or ability to sell their products or services.
  4. It illustrates educational articles about the organization represented by the logo.
  5. The image is used as the primary means of visual identification of topics in the article.
  6. It is not replaceable with an uncopyrighted or freely copyrighted image of comparable educational value. A free image could not be created to replace it without itself being a derivative work.
