CSUN Model UN‎

The Political Science Department at California State University Northridge maintains a highly successful and competitive Model United Nations Team. The team attends local and regional Model UN conferences in Los Angeles, Long Beach and Las Vegas and has established itself as the leading program in California. Under the careful guidance of faculty advisor Professor Peter Kappas, the team received first-place honors at the National Model United Nations Conference of 2007 and 2008 in New York and can be considered one of the best in the world.

CSUN MUN attended conferences in Anaheim-Buena Park, Las Vegas, Long Beach and New York. The team finished with 12 individual delegate awards and received a Distinguished Delegation Award and an Outstanding Position Paper Award representing CARE International at NMUN.

Head Delegate Brent Burpee lead CSUN MUN 13 individual delegate awards as well as a Distinguished Delegation Award representing Amnesty International at NMUN. For his accomplishments Brent Burpee was named United Nations Association (UNA) Southern California Model UN Student of the Year.

CSUN at the Long Beach Conference 2007‎ Head Delegate Igor Kagan lead CSUN MUN to an unprecedented 31 individual delegate awards, winning up to 40 percent of awards at some conferences.

CSUN at NMUN 2007‎ CSUN received an Outstanding Delegation Award and an Outstanding Position Paper Award representing Iceland at NMUN.
