[edit] Mountains
Great work on those various mountain pages (House, Holston, etc...)! ChristopherM 02:57, 16 January 2007 (UTC)
Thanks.. I used to work in those markets and know the mountains like the back of my hand.Csneed 02:28, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WSAZ Misleading
You're preaching to the choir here; I've been in the business for more than 25 years. --Mhking 02:12, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
I appreciate that, but again, WSAZ is not considered an NBC-TV affiliate in Ohio just because its signal reaches into that state.Csneed 02:28, 7 March 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Wikipedia links
You only need to link the first time something is mentioned, like the TV and radio stations in the House Mountain article. --AW 20:20, 2 April 2007 (UTC)
- Again, you don't need to link every time something is mentioned, and you don't need to put -TV after something once you've already said it's a TV station --AW 13:37, 19 April 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WTVC
If I'm reading your edits to WTVC correctly, you sound like you're saying that you're the only one who can edit the station history. This is strictly verboten per Wikipedia policy--please see WP:OWN.
I have worked at the station the past 16 years (and for three years in the early 1970's), and people have been changing the history incorrectly, putting in incorrect, unverifiable facts. I wrote the original history that is there; there is no need to change the history that I have written.. it is correct and is verifiable. My suggestion is for people to leave the history alone, otherwise I am compelled to delete the incorrect information constantly, correcting it to the factual history I originally wrote. I am striving for accuracy, and it is too bad that others just want to leave their mark on something.

[edit] Unspecified source for Image:The_former_Douglass_High_School,_Kingsport,_Tennessee.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:The_former_Douglass_High_School,_Kingsport,_Tennessee.jpg. I noticed that the file's description page currently doesn't specify who created the content, so the copyright status is unclear. If you did not create this file yourself, then you will need to specify the owner of the copyright. If you obtained it from a website, then a link to the website from which it was taken, together with a restatement of that website's terms of use of its content, is usually sufficient information. However, if the copyright holder is different from the website's publisher, then their copyright should also be acknowledged.
As well as adding the source, please add a proper copyright licensing tag if the file doesn't have one already. If you created/took the picture, audio, or video then the {{GFDL-self}} tag can be used to release it under the GFDL. If you believe the media meets the criteria at Wikipedia:Fair use, use a tag such as {{non-free fair use in|article name}} or one of the other tags listed at Wikipedia:Image copyright tags#Fair use. See Wikipedia:Image copyright tags for the full list of copyright tags that you can use.
If you have uploaded other files, consider checking that you have specified their source and tagged them, too. You can find a list of files you have uploaded by following this link. Unsourced and untagged images may be deleted one week after they have been tagged, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If the image is copyrighted under a non-free license (per Wikipedia:Fair use) then the image will be deleted 48 hours after 01:55, 1 August 2007 (UTC). If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you. Wikidudeman (talk) 01:55, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] License tagging for Image:Health Fair, Fish Fry, Ethel Ruth's Party 020.jpg
Thanks for uploading Image:Health Fair, Fish Fry, Ethel Ruth's Party 020.jpg. Wikipedia gets thousands of images uploaded every day, and in order to verify that the images can be legally used on Wikipedia, the source and copyright status must be indicated. Images need to have an image tag applied to the image description page indicating the copyright status of the image. This uniform and easy-to-understand method of indicating the license status allows potential re-users of the images to know what they are allowed to do with the images.
For more information on using images, see the following pages:
This is an automated notice by OrphanBot. If you need help on selecting a tag to use, or in adding the tag to the image description, feel free to post a message at Wikipedia:Media copyright questions. 02:07, 1 August 2007 (UTC)
[edit] WSYX static
Your quote from my talk page:
- You are obviously not familiar with radio-TV station ownership. The "grandfathered" protection HAS NOTHING TO DO WITH WLWC-FM. Nothing at all. Never had, never did. The "grandfathered" protection applies ONLY to WLWC-TV, WLWD-TV (Dayton) and WLWT-TV, Cincinnati. Before you mention something you know nothing about, consult someone who knows the facts. The "similar situation" does not apply to the RADIO station, only the TV stations in adjacent markets. The radio station edit may be a minor one (to you). But it is a FACTUAL ONE. And you still need to brush up on the word "redundancy." Your response here, does not explain that. Or is that your normal response to anyone who has a problem with your editing?
- Once again, you MISS THE POINT. Read the first two paragraphs. Since it seems as though you haven't done so, I'll patronize you with a reproduction. Go ahead and read -- I DARE YOU.
-
- The station began operations on August 30, 1949 as WTVN-TV, Columbus' second television station. The station was owned by Picture Waves, Inc., controlled by Toledo attorney and investor Edward Lamb, and was a sister station to WTVN radio. In February 1953, Picture Waves sold the WTVN stations to the Taft Television and Radio Company, which was based in Cincinnati. Taft later purchased an FM station in Columbus, WLWF (96.3 MHz.), from the Crosley Broadcasting Corporation in 1959, renaming it WTVN-FM (it is now WLVQ).
-
- WTVN-TV was an affiliate of the DuMont Television Network at its inception, and was one of only three primary affiliates of that network. In 1953, it took on a secondary affiliation with ABC. Channel 6 became an exclusive ABC station when DuMont closed down operations in 1956. In the early 1970s, Taft's common ownership of WTVN-TV and WKRC-TV in Cincinnati was awarded "grandfather status" by the Federal Communications Commission which, under its newly-enacted "one-to-a-market" rule, prohibited television stations with overlapping signals to share common ownership while protecting existing instances. (One of channel 6's competitors, Crosley/Avco-owned WLWC [channel 4, now WCMH-TV], was also given grandfathered protection through a similar situation.)
- Now, your so-called "dispute" contradicts itself immediately:
- 1. If I knew nothing at all about station ownership, as you claim, then I wouldn't have added the second paragraph to the article, right? ([1])
- 2. Where is it implied that WLWF/WTVN-FM wasn't protected by the grandfather clause? The second paragraph talks about "Taft's common ownership of WTVN-TV and WKRC-TV in Cincinnati", and how "One of channel 6's competitors, Crosley/Avco-owned WLWC [channel 4, now WCMH-TV], was also given grandfathered protection through a similar situation". The radio station isn't even mentioned here, nor is it implied to be involved in this scenario. In reality the radio station was protected, once the rules went into effect. And while the grandfathered protection between WLW-C (WCMH-TV) is mentioned, WLW-T and WLW-D (and WLW radio, to stretch it even further) aren't mentioned. They are in the WCMH-TV article, where it is relevant -- not in the WSYX article.
- Your last quote from my talk page:
- "You know, considering everything.. I wrote the original article on WSYX.. I wrote it.. and I can delete it, too. The whole thing. I see where you have been banned from editing copy before. We will see where this one goes, too."
- You claim to be some kind of front-line authority on television stations, but you have instead sounded like a child throwing a temper tantrum when he doesn't get his way. Not to mention that you have no clue as to what you're talking about. And my history has nothing to do with this situation. Don't waste my time with this nonsense again. Rollosmokes (talk) 08:01, 23 February 2008 (UTC)
Agreed.. debate over. Csneed (talk) 02:20, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
[edit] No, it's not over...
...Because you added irrelevant information on WTVN-FM that doesn't belong in the WSYX entry (rather, it should be in the WLVQ article). Your attempt to expand the history of the FM station is nothing more than you doing everything you can to prove your point. Please stop unnecessarily editing this article for that reason. Rollosmokes (talk) 07:18, 24 February 2008 (UTC)
After your last edit, I have requested that an administrator step in and mediate. I will also seek to charge you with incivility over your personal attacks. Rollosmokes (talk) 07:43, 26 February 2008 (UTC)

Nope, it wasn't you ... I was just getting rid of vandalism by BenH (talk · contribs · deleted contribs · logs · block user · block log), who has been nothing but trouble on TV station articles for over two years now.
