CSKA Moscow

CSKA Moscow (Central Sports Army Club Moscow, Russian: ЦСКА, ЦСКА Москва, full name: Федеральное государственное учреждение Министерства обороны Российской Федерации Центральный спортивный клуб Армии ) is a major Russian sports club based in Moscow. It is popularly referred to as "Red Army" or "the Red Army team" because during the Soviet era, it was a part of the Armed Forces sports society, which in its turn was associated with the Soviet Army.
The sports club has several teams in many sports:
- For the ice hockey club, see HC CSKA Moscow.
- For the men's basketball club, see PBC CSKA Moscow.
- For the football club, see PFC CSKA Moscow.
The CSKA has also been home to many elite figure skaters, including Ekaterina Gordeeva and Sergei Grinkov. Elena Mukhina, a world champion artistic gymnast, was also a club member.
