[edit] Fischer?

From the article:

The genus was described by Fischer in 1828.

Who is "Fischer"? Neilc 04:54, 12 Mar 2005 (UTC)

The scientist who scientifically desribed the taxon.
In botanical nomenclature, name of the person who described
the taxon is important part of the taxon's name. For example
the full name of the first species is written as
 C. spiralis (Retzius) Wydler - Retzius being in () because
he described it in a wrong genus. It was reclassified by Wydler
after Fischer described the genus Cryprocoryne Fischer ;) --Kyknos 10:27, 18 Mar 2005 (UTC)

[edit] taxonomy

the taxonomy of the Crypts is complicated and in dispute. Where possible I have followed the suggestions of Jacobsen and the Crypts pages site by Jan D. Bastmeijer [1] rather than Rataj's, mainly because I am more familiar with it, and generally it seems to be more accepted amongst Crypt enthusiasts. Hermeswiki 17:31, 12 October 2007 (UTC)
