CRYPT KILLER is an arcade video game produced by Konami. It was then released in 1997 for the Sega Saturn and Sony Playstation home consoles. The Saturn version made use of segas virtua gun which was developed for the Virtua Cop series of games. It was also compatible for the many lightguns produced for the Playstation. Scenery visuals were all in 3D, whilst all the enemy sprites you had to shoot were in "flat" 2D form.
[edit] Plot
The player would travel through variously themed caves and crypts in search of The Eyes of Guidance which would open the doors of fate. On your journey you are armed with a shotgun to fend off many mythical enemys such as mummys, skeletons, fish-men, and an aray of monsters.
[edit] Gameplay
One or two players simultaneous would travel through levels "on tracks" in a similar way to Virtua Cop. At certain points on each level you would get to choose your path by selecting to go one of two different ways. This would help to keep the game varied for each time you play. On the opening screen when you started each game you can even select in which order you play the six levels. At the end of each level you would encounter a large boss monster to defeat in order to progress. Such bosses include Medusa, a large Pharaoh's head, and a Hydra. As well as being armed with a shot gun you could temporally upgrade your weapon by finding concealed more powerful guns such as a gatling gun or a grenade launcher hidden behind breakable objects. Also, for each life you have 2 bombs which could destroy all enemies on screen.
